About this property
2 Guests - Free Parking - Studio Private Courtyard
The Artist's Retreat is a stunning studio apartment adjoined to our house. Set on a quiet unadopted lane, we're a 10 minute walk into the village of Calstock.
With its own entrance, The Artist's Retreat offers a king-size bed, seating, TV with lots of channels and apps, free WiFi, a fully-equipped kitchen, a dressing room area, and a bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower. There's also a private courtyard, providing an ideal place to eat and relax, plus a sunny communal area, with barbecue, in our beautiful garden.
Set in the picturesque Tamar valley - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) - Calstock is a vibrant village, with its iconic viaduct over the River Tamar.
It has independent art galleries, two thriving pubs, a village hall, cafe, new ferry service over to Devon and even an ice cream palour.
Calstock Arts, set in a beautiful old chapel with stunning views over the River Tamar, attracts a varied programme of local, national and even internationallly renowned acts, including jazz, folk and world music.
Calstock is also on the newly opened Tamara way, a walk that follows the Cornwall/Devon border from south to north. There are some lovely walks from The Artist's Retreat around the surrounding area, including The National Trust's Cotehele house and garden nearby.
We are always very happy to advise on walks, places to visit and eat.
The lovely rural train station in Calstock runs into Plymouth. Plymouth's Barbican area and Marina is a great place to visit, with its old cobbled streets, independent shops and eateries and the Mayflower Museum. The lighthouse on Plymouth Hoe is a short walk from there.
From the Artist's Retreat you are a short 20 minute drive to the beautiful Dartmoor national park.
There is so much to see and do in this little corner of the world, with Devon and Cornwall on your doorstep.
Hope to see you here.
