About this property

Beebole Cottage, cosy 17th century cottage in heart of Yorkshire Dales near lake

Beebole Cottage is a quirky, small and utterly charming little cottage located in the tiny hamlet of Countersett in Wensleydale, Yorkshire Dales. Surrounded by beautiful walks, many straight from the door, and scenery, including Lake Semerwater, just a short walk away, it is the perfect bolt hole to return to after a day's exploration of the surrounding countryside. The accommodation is laid out on the ground floor of an old 17th century dairy building with 'beeboles' (bee holes) cut in to the walls where honey would be collected. The cottage has been sympathetically restored, with central heating, a powerful log burner with a basket of complimentary logs provided, a newly fitted shower room with powerful thermostatic shower and a newly fitted kitchen with everything you need to self cater. The Kingsize bed has a comfy pocket sprung mattress and the curtains are blackout lined. Cosy living room with dining table, sofa and smart TV with access to Netflix and Amazon Video plus other apps. The cottage is located opposite the historic Countersett Hall, but has its own parking area, entrance and garden with seating terrace area provided. A short drive from Askigg, Bainbridge and Hawes, with their cosy pubs, markets, shops and restaurants. Llama trekking and paddle boarding, along with other water sports and fishing, available on Semerwater. Castles, abbey ruins, waterfalls, Wensleydale Cheese centre, Rope maker, arts centres, steam railways, viaducts, bike hire all within easy reach. Countersett offers peace and quiet, beautiful gardens and wildlife galore. A perfect base for stargazing in this area of minimal light pollution, too. 5* restaurant in nearby Bainbridge, plus plenty more pubs and restaurants in Askrigg and Hawes. Please note; one low doorway and beam in living room. Not suitable for those with severely limited mobility. All hotel quality linens and towels provided and professionally laundered, cottage also professionally cleaned to a high standard. Tea, coffee, milk sachets and biscuits provided, along with mini toiletries, oil, salt, pepper, foil, two tea towels, soap and washing up liquid, plus laundry pods and dishwasher tablets. One undercounter fridge and one worktop small freezer. Double oven with four ring hob, plus microwave. Dishwasher, washing machine, clothes airer, ironing board and iron. Bluetooth speaker, walking books and local informtation provided. Locked bicycle storage available. Search 'Countersett Hall' for further information.
