Tucked beneath the dramatic outcrop of Tarset Tor in Northumberland National Park, it offers a unique blend of modern comfort, sustainable living, and access to one of the UK’s most breathtaking landscapes. Built from sustainably sourced cedar and powered by renewable energy, this contemporary timber cabin is light, warm, and welcoming.

The ground floor features a spacious family room with four single beds and an en-suite toilet, making it ideal for children or small groups. Upstairs on the mezzanine, a kingsize bedroom with en-suite shower room provides privacy and comfort, making Bothy 5 perfectly suited for couples or parents looking for their own retreat. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area is thoughtfully designed as a social hub, complete with a cosy biomass stove and large windows that bring the outdoors in. Step out onto the veranda to take in panoramic views across Tarset Valley, stretching all the way to Scotland.

From Bothy 5, adventure is never far away. Guests can walk or cycle straight from the door, explore nearby Kielder Forest, or spot local wildlife including red squirrels, deer, wild goats, and ospreys. By night, the skies reveal a glittering canopy of stars, as the area sits within Europe’s largest International Dark Sky Park. For those seeking extra excitement, Tarset Tor can arrange activities such as horse riding, fishing, quad biking, survival courses, and golf tours. Facilities on site add even more to your stay, with a barbecue and fire pit, woodland bar, sauna, bird hide, drying room, cycle store and bike wash, pool table, and a 5-a-side football pitch.
