The property is exactly as the pictures show. Primary selling point was it is around the corner from the beach - an outstanding location! House a bit rustic, but overall clean and well kept. Plenty of towels, utensils, lobster pot...what else do you need? Outside and inside water pressure on showers was great. Washer and dryer worked very well and is a big plus. South Chatham location is outstanding - centrally located for the entire Cape for early day trips to all the towns, while afternoons on the beach and evenings out to dinner or bringing in during this crazy time. Pisces, Talkative Pig, Delmar, BlueFin - all fantastic. Real find was the Chatham Fish Market down at the docks. Freshest lobster, oysters, tuna, etc. that you can find. Pick up from there and cook at the house - and make sure to watch the seals when you're there. Overall a great week - great location, great food, and great weather....we'll be back!

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy

This house is definitely dated, has a LOT of spiders (I mean LOTS), and was not the cleanest. We were later than the check in time, and the cleaning couple was still there, but they were very nice and tried to finish quickly. BUT, the location was excellent since it was a quick walk to the beach. It also had three bedrooms to accommodate me, my elderly parents and my twin teens. It certainly needs some work, and the kitchen has a tiny eating space if you are looking to do more eating in. The owner was sweet when the circuit breaker clicked off (cannot use blow dryers in the bedrooms), but be warned... it is located in the spider lair in the basement. We will probably not return, though it served us okay for the week.
We had a lovely break from COVID-19; the weather cooperated, the beach was nice and visited some of the nearby local towns... all while social distancing!
The house was enjoyable, clean , fully stocked and up the hill from the beach! Excellent trip!
Lovely home just around the corner from the beach!
We had a lovely time staying here (my husband and I, and 2 kids- age 4 and 6) as a getaway after months of staying at home. The house was a perfect size for us and was around the corner from the Pleasant St beach, where we spent our days. And the kids loved the outdoor shower. Close to a number of restaurants etc where we got takeout and ate outside on the picnic table each night. Excellent communication with the property manager and owner! We will be back!
Extremely conveniently located, well equipped and we were greeted by Ed's Mom who was delightful. We had to depart early due to an illness in the family but not for any other reason. The Cape is wonderful. Bryant & Susie
This property was the perfect size for a family of 5. We could see the ocean from the yard, and it was a very short walk to the beach. Everything was provided for us, all we needed to bring was clothes and food! The house was dated, but it was clean and had a lot of charm . Our family enjoyed our first experience renting a house in Chatham! We would go back!
A great location, a few min walk to a family friendly beach. Beautiful neighborhood, very walkable. House was good for us, 2 dogs, a baby and friends that stayed. Very nice outdoor seating area to grill and hangout. Very well equipped with every utensil and pot / pan that you would need. House is dated inside although it was clean and functional. A great location to explore the outer cape and Chatham.

Amazing beach access!
The house is situated in a beautiful neighborhood, perfect for riding bikes, taking walks, and exploring. It’s just a few minutes to the beach via multiple access points and that was heaven!!
We were very grateful to book a spot so close to the water, where we could bring our pup. Wonderful neighbors.
Ed was responsive when the septic smell became horrendous & it was clear that there is an issue with it and needed to be pumped, which he took care of. The trash bins were completely full so he had those emptied as well. Very Happy with his speedy response to both inquiries!!
We had a terrific time and love the area!! Will be back to Chatham next year!! Can’t wait!! Thank you

Easy access- good for an older family
Clean house. Dated but cute cottage. Small beach but just right for us- easy access. Mom is 90 and had no issues. Older children and a dog so great neighbor to walk and run. 10 minute drive to town. Easy access to the high speed ferry to Nantucket. Great restaurants all around but you do have to call at least a day in advance. Great family vacation!

Close to the beach
My friends and I were looking for a weekend by the beach with the kids and this fit the bill. So close to the beach and a calm beach for the kids. Tide does go out so check. The beach also had lots of seaweed and rocks. The house was older and small but cozy.

Perfect house and location
Loved the house. So close to the beach. We were six of us and three bedrooms was just right. House had everything didn't have to bring anything except toilatry. We cooked breakfast in the kitchen and grilled our lunch on propane grill. We would go back again.

great location, depressing house
First of all, this house is in a great location, within a 5 minute walk to the beach which is very private and quiet. Secondly, it was pet friendly so we could bring our dogs with us which was also great. However, the house is extremely outdated and was filthy when we arrived. We had to spend the first several hours cleaning the kitchen floor, which looked like it had not been cleaned all summer. There was dog hair all over the sofa which was broken and therefore only able to seat one person at a time; and the bed linens were so old and scratchy that we couldn't sleep on them. Luckily we had brought our own linens. We discussed the situation with the owner, who agreed to give us money back for our cleaning efforts and inconvenience but to-date we have not received anything. After repeated attempts to reach the owner, we still have not received any compensation for the filthy conditions or our security deposit back. While this is a very affordable rental, take caution. You get what you pay for and we would not return.

Cute, but the photos may be a little misleading
This is a cute and charming little cape. All the amenities that were described were indeed at our disposal. The walk to the beach was a little further than we expected, but it was nothing major. My kids enjoyed the little jaunt every day. The small beach is psuedo-private, meaning: there aren't many ppl and it is secluded, but is open to the public. On the busiest day, there were maybe three families with a total of about 25 people inhabiting. Due to the size, I believe, this beach isn't as maintained as the larger beaches where you pay to park & enjoy seaweed/horseshoe crab free sand. Again, my kids could dig in the sand and were perfectly content.
The outdoor shower was proclaimed "creepy" by my kids as you had to fight your way through foliage to use. The hydrangea are lovely, but need to be cut back in the worst way! There was really no using the back yard., so while the front & side yards were enough for kids to run around & play in, they were separated by a crushed shell drive-pad. Not good for little kiddies to be running around.
Overall, the price was extremely good for the location and the time we visited. We're not high maintenance, so if you're looking for posh & uber fancy - this quaint little home is not for you. But, if you're simple and are looking for a quiet place to stay, close to a beach, a quick drive to the hustle and bustle and a relaxing get-a-way, this is the spot.

Cape Cod Charm!
This was exactly what we wanted for a trip with the kids. A cozy, homey house with great cape cod kitch! A quick walk to the beach on private roads with little traffic. A quick drive to the shops and restaurants in Chatham Center. The kitchen was well equipped. Clean, comfortable and a good value. I'm here to book my week for this summer!

About the host
Hosted by Ed Tessier
I'm a fourth-generation summer resident of Chatham, and this home has been in the family for years. I'm an antique dealer and frequent traveler, so I appreciate spaces with history and character—this one certainly has both. I enjoy hosting guests who are looking for a laid-back, authentic Cape Cod experience.
Why they chose this property
This small, quaint cottage is tucked into an upscale South Chatham neighborhood just a short walk from the water. You can stroll to two local restaurants, hit the nearby beaches without needing to drive, and enjoy the kind of Cape Cod summer that’s getting harder to find. What I love most is the mix of simplicity and location—it’s low-key, but close to everything that makes this area special.
What makes this property unique
What sets this property apart is its location—right in South Chatham, arguably the nicest town on all of Cape Cod. The cottage itself is simple and classic, with original knotty pine walls and three small bedrooms that give it that cozy, old-school Cape feel. It’s not fancy, but it’s the kind of place where families have made summer memories for generations.
