About this property
Agata - Four Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 8
An alluring contemporary villa with a fabulous infinity pool designed with easy living, colour, light and harmony in mind.
Boasting superb views of the gorgeous baroque town of Noto, the gently undulating countryside that surrounds it, and the sea, Agata is easy on the eye, welcoming and practically laid out. Its sleek, art-inspired interiors are filled with a soft light, while its terraces and gardens, immersed in a 5-acre estate of olive groves and citrus orchards, guarantee seclusion, privacy and tranquillity.
Inside: accommodation at Agata is all on one floor.
Agata’s layout is disarmingly simple and eminently practical, with a large, free-flowing social space to one side and sleeping quarters to the other. White walls, balanced by creamy yellow floors, is the palette of choice, a blank canvas onto which splashes of colour, in the form of contemporary artworks, ceramics, sculptural pieces and soft furnishings, are superimposed. Large, strategically positioned sliding glass doors promote a laid-back indoor-outdoor lifestyle, bring in the views, and help create a luminous, airy atmosphere.
The main entrance leads into the sleek, fully equipped contemporary kitchen, complete with central breakfast bar and doors opening out onto the shaded al fresco dining area. The space sweeps past a guest WC and into the living and dining room, which is furnished with a large kingfisher blue sofa and a table comfortably seating 10.
Between the kitchen and the living and dining area, a short corridor lined with art leads to the four double bedrooms, each of which has its own beautifully finished en-suite shower room and glass doors accessing the surrounding terraces and gardens.
Outside: all of the rooms at Agata spill out onto a poured concrete terrace that wraps around the house on all sides.
Al fresco life is played out in a number of places dotted around the extensive two-acre grounds, but the focal point is the long section of terrace running along the front of the house. Accessed from the kitchen via wide sliding glass doors, this area hosts a well-shaded dining area, a sitting area, a couple of showers and, flanking the splendid 18m-long cobalt infinity pool (one of the longest in the area), a couple of lines of sunloungers. To one side of the house, there is also a large gravelled area planted with circles of aromatic shrubs, which hosts a well-furnished sitting area with views out to sea.
Beyond the pool and the terraces are large expanses of emerald lawn, dotted with a varied and leafy collection of citrus, olive, almond and palm trees. Here and there, hammocks sway lazily in the breeze inviting guests to relax and enjoy the gentle rhythms of life at Agata.
The estate surrounding Agata is home to another of our villas, Ruffiana, which is located around 100m away. Owned by the same family, the villas share part of the access road but each enjoys total privacy. If you're travelling in a large group or with another family, why not take both of them.
Agata features a fantastic infinity pool, offering swimmers stunning views while in the pool. There is a drop off the infinity side so we recommend children are supervised at all times. Please refer to our general safety page if you would like more information about infinity pools.
Due to the nature of the property including terraces low walls and several drops around the grounds, children must be supervised at all times.
Parts of the route to this property are unpaved and a little rough. We therefore recommend guests hire a 4-wheel drive car or one with excellent ground clearance.
Agata sits in the rolling hills above the fascinating baroque town of Noto and the beautiful natural reserve of Vendicari Nature Reserve. Noto is the most easterly of a chain of baroque towns now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while Vendicari Nature Reserve is home to some of the finest sandy beaches in Sicily, not to mention thousands of migrating birds, including flamingos, and sea turtles, which come to nest on its sands.
If hiking in the hills is your thing, then there is some spectacular scenery in the rushing streams and waterfalls of Cassibile and at the Paleolithic burial sites in the dramatic valley of Pantalica.
Syracuse is just half an hour's drive away, and a day there is highly recommended to anybody spending a week or two at Agata. A little further afield, the other baroque towns of Modica, Ragusa and Scicli are easily reachable in a day.
Arrival details will be confirmed by The Thinking Traveller after your villa is confirmed.
The Thinking Traveller can organise transfers and car hire and an agent will be in touch with you once your villa is confirmed.
