Built in 1840, this six bedroom house 5 minutes walk away from the beach, has retained many of the features of traditional Swahili design: a spacious roof-top verandah; Zanzibar beds and high beamed ceilings.
The house has two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms; there are three single bedrooms and a twin bedroom. There's a bathroom downstairs and a bed settee upstairs. There are ceiling fans in every room. Upstairs there's a cooker, fridge/freezer and a washing machine. The house is in the bustling old town and 5 mins walk from the beach, the market and a few lovely restaurants. It is easy to feel part of the community. Guests are able to park within a walled garden. A night watchman is employed to look after your car and the house.
Guest access Jackie the housekeeper will meet you and show you around the house on arrival.
Other things to note Our home is situated in Old town Bagamoyo near three mosques and during Ramadan, in particular, it can be noisy at night. The fishermen also take their breakfast around 6am at a cafe just outside the house and they tell lots of loud and humorous stories first thing in the morning!
