About this property
Roc de Lapalue - Three Bedroom Villa, Sleeps 6
Ground Floor: Kitchen/diner (oven, dishwasher). Utility room (microwave, washing machine). Steps down to living room (TV) with French doors to garden. Double bedroom with en suite bathroom (separate shower). Twin bedroom with en suite shower room. Double bedroom with en suite bathroom (separate shower). WiFi. Outside: Spacious grounds with garden and woodland. Open sided large barn with summer kitchen (oven, fridge, gas barbecue, music system), seating area, table tennis). Private parking. Private swimming pool (12m x 6m) with Roman steps.
Enjoying far reaching views across the valley, this lovely stone cottage nestles on the hillside in 10 acres of woodland and countryside. This picturesque rural setting makes Roc de Lapalue a lovely retreat and yet it is only a 5 minute drive to the nearby bastide of Montcuq (4km), where interesting and quirky boutiques line the medieval streets and cafés and restaurants tempt you to linger over lunch or dinner. A setting that offers you the best of both worlds: the calm of the countryside and the buzz of French village life in this corner of South West France.
Roc de Lapalue’s white stone walls and pale blue shutters are typical of the area and, combined with the profusion of plants and flowers, create a pretty picture on arrival. The interior has been perfectly designed for a small group, with a well equipped kitchen and three bedrooms, each with en suite facilities (providing an added degree of privacy). What was once the cattle shed is now a very comfortable living/dining room - thankfully the exposed stone walls and wood beams are the only reminders of the room’s previous use!
The garden has a number of nooks and spots in which to relax but the focal point is, without a doubt, the open sided barn. This fabulous structure was probably used to store agricultural items, but is now a wonderful outdoor living area, where you can relax, cook, dine, listen to music… From here, steps lead down to the pool area.
The grounds of Roc de Lapalue extend into the woodland behind, through which are walking trails into the countryside and beyond to Montcuq itself (an hour’s walk). Just outside of Montcuq is Lac St Sernin, a popular summertime destination with its beach, picnic area, and aquapark (inflatables, pedaloes, paddleboarding). Surrounding villages are host to markets and summer festivals, whilst the River Lot offers all kinds of water activities (swimming, canoeing, boat trips).
