Location

The property is located directly on the main beach in Shkembi Kavajes, Durrës. Durrës.itself is one of the country\'s oldest and most important cities. The city is situated on the Adriatic Sea to the west of Tirana, Albania\'s capital, and is home to many ancient Roman sites, including the Balkans\' largest amphitheatres (a 17-minute drive), endless sandy beaches and some of the best nightlife in Albania. Places to visit include the remains of the Byzantine Walls, Durrës Castle (a 15-minute drive) and the 4th-century Venetian Tower (a 15-minute drive), close to the seafront. The tower is now a restaurant and offers the perfect place to watch the sunset over the Adriatic Sea. The port is a 10-minute drive.

There are several restaurants and supermarkets within a 10-minute walk, and the town’s covered \'Grand Market\' (a 10-minute drive) is the best place to pick up fresh local produce to try at home. A visit to the Abaia Winery and Vineyard (an 11-minute drive) is recommended to sample and buy wines directly from the producers.

Tirana is a 1-hour drive and makes a great day trip; the city is easy to explore on foot. Visitors will discover an eclectic mix of Ottoman, Soviet and Fascist architecture. Blloku is an exciting, young area, full of cafés and interesting boutiques and the main square, Skanderbeg Square, is also a must-see. The city’s markets offer a window into everyday life, and the New Market, Pazari Ri, offers a wide range of local produce.

The closest international airport is Tirana Airport, a 40-minute drive from the apartment. If you are arriving in Albania by car, the ferries from Ancona and Bari both go directly to Durres Port (a 1O-minute drive).
