About this property
2 Bed in Gunnerside (oc-ds945)
Step inside this bright and airy bungalow and you’ll feel instantly at home. Set in a peaceful spot, you can soak up the serene countryside views from the elevated garden, or hide away in the sun house and listen to the rain whilst you read a book. For a day out, visit the historic market town of Richmond (17 miles) to see its imposing castle and beautiful Georgian architecture, just two of the many attractions which make it a worthwhile trip.
Cosy and characterful, the living room is a lovely place to sit down and unwind, with two comfortable sofas, a wall-mounted TV and a charming wood burner for the winter months. In the corner of the room is a round dining table seating four, providing a perfect spot for family mealtimes or friendly board game competitions. Next door, the dual-aspect kitchen has a country style and has been built to make the most of the space and ensure that you can cook up a storm with ease. The master bedroom has a sumptuous king-size bed with calming neutral decor to ensure a good night’s sleep, as well as gorgeous countryside views which are a wonderful treat to wake up to each morning. Completing the sleeping arrangements is a spacious zip-and-link twin bedroom which can be made up as a king upon request, also enjoying scenic sights out of the window. Finally, the family bathroom has both a bathtub and a shower where you can refresh at the start and end of the day. Wander up the small stone garden steps and you’ll be met with the enclosed patio area with space to sit and soak up the atmosphere come rain or shine.
Swaledale is a great base for avid walkers with plenty of footpaths within easy reach, including the Coast to Coast walk segment from Keld to Reeth (11 miles) which takes you past a number of pretty waterfalls. Just 2 miles away is Gunnerside Gill, a rocky walk where you can see the ruins which tell a story of the area’s mining history, lying amongst the riverside meadows and the dramatic beauty of the landscape. For a slower paced day, head to Hawes (11 miles) to indulge in tasty treats at a tearoom, or pick up fine local produce at their weekly markets.
