Keen walkers can join the wonderful promenade along St Bees Beach, half a mile away, to begin Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk, and be rewarded with some magnificent views. Known for its dramatic landscapes, mountains and winding lakes, the wonderfully scenic Lake District National Park can be reached within 11.5 miles.
