Discover peace and tranquillity and reconnect with nature in the heart of the Glenkens. Located on the edge of the small rural village of Balmaclellan and just a few minutes' drive from New Galloway and St John's Town of Dalry, Craignair is the perfect base for a relaxing Scottish escape. This traditional, semi-detached two-storey home, set within its own woodland garden has been fully renovated to provide comfortable accommodation for up to four guests, with views across open farmland and moorland.

Set in the upland landscape of the Glenkens of Galloway, Craignair offers a peaceful rural setting while remaining within easy reach of the Solway and Ayrshire coasts, as well as the magnificent Galloway Forest Park.

Craignair is surrounded by plants and wildlife is in close proximity including Red Squirrels, Hares and a variety of birdlife. There are accessible waterfall and woodland walks from the doorstep.

The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. There is easy access to outstanding walking routes, including the renowned Southern Upland Way, Southern Scotland's coast-to-coast long-distance footpath. The nearby Galloway Forest Park, famous for its Dark Sky Park status offers superb opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, and stargazing.

Loch Ken, just moments away, is ideal for anglers and adventure seekers alike. Renowned for its course fishing and home to the Galloway Activity Centre where visitors can enjoy a wide range of water and land-based activities throughout the year.

Nature lovers will also find plenty to enjoy, with RSPB reserves, the Red Kite Feeding Station and the National Trust for Scotland Threave Estate close by.

Despite its peaceful location, Craignair is conveniently placed for exploring the vibrant market towns of Castle Douglas and Ayr, as well as the beautiful beaches along the Solway Firth and Clyde Coast.

South West Scotland is steeped in heritage, with close connections to both Robert the Bruce and Robert Burns. Guests can easily explore the Burns Trail, his birthplace museum, and historic sites linked to Scotland's most famous King.

For cultural days out, the harbour town of Kirkcudbright, known as Scotland's Artists' Town is a must-visit, offering galleries, exhibitions, the Kirkcudbright Galleries, NTS Broughton House, and the Dark Sky Planetarium.
