About this property

Sleeping in the Barn; a 6 p vacation home in the Noordoostpolder near Overijssel

Stylish Holiday Home below sealevel – Discover the Noordoostpolder

Experience a truly unique stay in this stylish holiday home, where design, history, and nature come together. Set on a former sea dike, you’ll sleep on land that was once the Zuiderzee — a place where past and present blend seamlessly.

This is the perfect base to explore the hidden treasures of the Noordoostpolder. From wide open landscapes to charming former fishing villages, this region is full of surprises.

The house offers two comfortable accommodations:

The Folklore Room (2–4 guests)
Features a king-size bed with TV on the ground floor and two single beds upstairs. Please note: the upper floor is accessed via a steep staircase and is therefore less suitable for babies and toddlers. This room has a private shower and toilet.

The Ode to the Cow Room (2 guests)
Equipped with two electrically adjustable single beds, an en-suite bathroom, TV, and clothes rack. This room is also suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Shared spaces & amenities
Guests share a cozy living and dining area and a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with an induction cooktop, oven, and dishwasher. Coffee and tea are provided, along with a kettle and filter coffee machine.

Step outside to your private garden and covered terrace, where you can light a fire in the fire barrel and enjoy stunning dark skies full of stars. The garden is surrounded by an earthen embankment, offering plenty of privacy and tranquility.

Perfect location for exploring
Visit nearby highlights such as Museum Schokland (UNESCO World Heritage), Nagele, and the Waterloopbos. Enjoy endless cycling routes through De Weerribben National Park, Giethoorn, the IJssel Delta, and on to the historic Hanseatic city of Kampen. Former Zuiderzee towns like Urk, Vollenhove, and Genemuiden are all close by.

The property lies directly on the Zuiderzee long-distance walking route and near the Christoffel Path and Pioneers’ Path. On-site, you’ll also find a tiny house on the dike, additional B&B rooms, and a small campsite.

During the season, our cozy coffee house is open on Monday and Thursday afternoons and most weekends, serving barista-quality coffee and homemade cakes.

A special place to slow down, explore, and experience the story of the land.
