About the host
Hosted by Alister Craig
I am 31 years old and have been hosting guests since I was 25. Born in Guildford, Surrey, my family made the permanent journey north to the beautiful Cumbria when I was 6. I have always had a keen interest in property so having the opportunity to run holiday lets was a great way for me to be involved in the sector and is a real passion of mine, and something I hope to continue doing long into the future. I have many other interests - mainly sport and travelling! Cricket and squash are my main two sporting interests right now although I used to play a lot of football, badminton, hockey and skiing although time commitments don't allow for them as much now unfortunately.
Why they chose this property
Cumbria is a stunning county with all the natural beauty you could wish for. We are positioned only a few miles from the Lake District national park boundary so very convenient for access to the north lakes, but also not isolated as we are just a 5 minute drive from the historic market town of Penrith with all the supermarkets, boutique shops, leisure centre and more.
What makes this property unique
The Guest Suite is part of a Georgian property built by the Earl of Lonsdale for his sister in the late 1700s. What is the Guest Suite now would have been the old servants quarters and although it is fully renovated, there are still some signs of the history such as the wooden beams, stone fireplace and old stone oven.
