Space: 3 bedrooms-sleeps 6 (Full, two twins, and a queen hide-a-bed),1 1/2 baths, full kitchen, laundry room, linens and cookware provided, wifi, cable. ($25 per night extra charge per guest for more than 4 guests) I am so pleased to share my second home with you here in beautiful Beulah Valley!!! This is not the average vacation rental as I do live here part of the year. This property has been part of Beulah's history for about 100 years, and for the last 50 years, my family has had the privilege of being it's caretaker. (A copy of 'From Mace's Hole To Beulah' is a wonderful historical background of Beulah, and is available for you to read during your stay. Page 150 is about my Grandfather and grandmother, Joe and Katherine Mehring.) While it is not the Ritz or the Hilton and it is not a brand new, perfectly appointed cabin, it is quite retro - antique in furnishings, decor, etc. Once again, comfortable and eclectic. Also, we have a variety of wildlife for your enjoyment. The deer are always plentiful, and you will often see several sets of twins or triplets romping in the hayfield. They may seem tame, but never attempt to feed or touch any deer, just take a few photos from a safe distance and enjoy their beauty as a spectator. Bear are also common in the valley. Although it's not quite Yellow Stone park, we get our share. Do not leave garbage out: Do not leave picnic food unattended: Do not try to get closer for a better shot - trust me, just get a better camera, and stay back!. Lion are less frequently seen here in town, but the same rules apply as for the bear. Other critters may include skunks, raccoons, turkey, rabbits, fox, squirrels, bobcats, and unfortunately, a few mice (sorry, we do our best, but this is the country.) Some of the amenities our cottage offers are ROKU TV, wireless internet (comtrend6956 - password on router in china cabinet), washer/dryer, horse pen, 3 minutes from Post Office, general store, two restaurants, coffee shop and antique shopping. A short 30 minute drive offers mountain lake fishing, golf, theatres, zoo, nature center, and museums, and only an hour away is the famous Royal Gorge Bridge or Bishop's castle! We are pet friendly with a $200 cleaning fee, $100 damage deposit, and current vaccination records. This is truly a one-of-a-kind vacation spot, and one of the best kept secrets in the beautiful mountains of colorado! Guest access: The driveway and yard are large and allow for plenty of parking. You are allowed to hike the fields, but no vehicles please, as I harvest the hay crop several times per year. I do keep the basement area locked inside and the outbuildings are for private storage only. Visitors are welcome to use the gas grill - extra propane is in the back porch closet or you can purchase at the General Store.
Guest interaction: I have a sheet with local attractions, phone #'s, etc. inside the china hutch top drawer. Pueblo is about a 20 minute drive - Colorado City about the same - San Isabel Lake and Bishops Castle 30 minutes via 12 mile. (You can ask for directions at the local General Store.) I will email a full information packet when reservation is completed. :)
The nicest thing about Beulah, is the peace and quiet. When you stay with us at Mountain View Cottage, you will enjoy the peaceful country living experience, the quiet, the wildlife, the views, the 12 acre hay field, and the creek running through property.
I have recently added an outdoor camera for guest and property protection. :)
Other things to note: At certain times during the summer, we have 'box elder bugs' - little black and orange bugs. They do not bite, but can be a little annoying as they crowd into warm areas during the evening. My water well is about 1/4 of a mile at the bottom of the field and runs off a pressure tank up to the house, therefore, the water pressure systematically fluctuates from a trickle to Niagra Falls - so be prepared! The house does not have air conditioning, however, open windows and two ceiling fans have always been quite adequate for me. Keep in mind that we are not the Mariott - Mountain View Cottage is a quaint, little old farm house property with lots of character and quirks!
Final Thoughts:
I know most folks mean well when they fill out the “what could the Host do better” portion, however, please keep in mind that I’m sharing my mountain home as is - I’m not a landlord, property manager, or hotel. And, while I know there is always room for improvement, (I try to do something each year such as a new pump, pressure tank and water system, new refrigerator, and new storm doors for 2021) I can only offer the property that I have as it is. Most of my guests love it that way, and return year after year, just as I do! We hope you will, too!

The cottage is in a peaceful, rural setting of fields and mountains. The interior of the "farm house" is decorated with motifs: for example, antiques, bears, other wildlife, cowboys - giving the impression of visiting a museum or historic home (which it is). Fantastic!
This sweet farmhouse was warm and inviting, making it the perfect long weekend getaway. The mountain views are breathtaking, and I enjoyed the company of mule deer that passed through the yard. I will come back to visit again!
Kitchen well stocked with plenty of utensils as well as plates and drinking glasses.Stayed at an historic home in Bulah, a town we werenot familiar with. Didn't take us long to acclimateand familiarize ourselves to the town and scenic terrain! All in all, successful trip!
Wonderful farm nestled between a beautiful mountain setting with all the charm this country home has to offer. Deer galore, turkey, and other wildlife to enjoy. So quiet and relaxing we had such a wonderful time. I fixed pancakes and homemade maple syrup that filled the house with the aroma of maple that just added to our Christmas Cheer. We have been here twice and will definitely be back!!!

Rebecca's group are 5 star with us! They leave the property spotless, have great communication, and enjoy the quirks of country living! They are welcome back anytime! :)
We spent 4 nights at this quiet cottage with our dog. Immediately walking in the doors brings back memories of a grandparents house. The wood floors appear original. We sat out on the front porch during the evening looking at the mountains and waving at the very few cars that went by. Sitting close to the road I was worried about noise and traffic and my concerns were squashed the first night. We didn’t have a lake view but we had a view of mountains and fields. The town has a coffee shop and restaurant we wanted to try but didn’t want our food to go to waste. Pueblo was just a 20 minute drive and the Royal Gorge hike was worth the trip. We also hiked the Pueblo Mountain State Park. Bonnie does describe the place and amenities up front. No surprises at all. If you are following Google maps coming from Trinidad just beware that some of the roads are unpaved. If you are not use to driving this type of road especially during rain or winter weather then I suggest just taking the extra minutes and staying on Interstate and coming in from Pueblo and take 78. It actually isn’t that much longer. Even going to the Royal Gorge we took 78 and it only added a few extra minutes.
Loved my stay! Very tranquil. The mountain air was revitalizing to my soul. I had to put my 16 year old dog down and this amazing stay was what I needed to reflect on my decision. 😇🥰
This property was amazing. It had all the charm of an old farm house with modern comforts. The views were breath taking. My girls were in heaven getting to explore and loved watching the deer that were outside in the morning. Bonnie was wonderful and more than accommodating. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Bed in master was very small for a couple. Other couple had to split up and sleep in twin bed in two separate rooms. This home is meant for a family of 4 (with children). We did enjoy the property otherwise.

It was a pleasure to have you as guests at Mountain View Cottage. I’m not sure where the disconnect was regarding the bedrooms and bed sizes as that information is not only in the first line of the property description i.e. 3 bedrooms - sleeps 6(Full, two twins, and a queen hide-a-bed), but also under the tab “Rooms & beds”. In addition, there are photos of all the bedrooms/beds in the photo gallery. We always want our guests to enjoy their stay and encourage everyone to thoroughly read the information and make sure this property fits their needs. Once again, thank you for staying with us at Mountain View Cottage!
Loved staying at this charming home in Beulah. If you love peace and quiet this is the place for you. Loved waking up in the morning and seeing all the wildlife on the property.

Older type of home but cozy
Good communication with owner
Grate view, market in walking distance
Arrived 2 hours before check in and allowed to stay earlier
Thank you
Great old farm house setting. Beautiful mountain view with lots of deer grazing throughout to enjoy watching. Be sure to bring plenty of groceries as this is a very remote area with limited resources. Cant say enough about the peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mountain View Cottage! The cottage was clean and cozy. It is very peaceful and the views are great. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and watching the deer. The people we encountered at the General Store and coffee shop were super friendly. We would definitely stay again!
We loved our stay in Beulah, the house was in a perfect setting. The front porch was great for morning coffee and viewing wild life. This place was a perfect place for our needs. I wish we could have stayed a little longer! Blessing to the onwer! Linda and Greg
We enjoyed our weekend stay. There is plenty of room to spread out and the pictures don't do it justice! It is very quiet and peaceful...perfect place for our needs. The antique furniture and décor is just wonderful. Kitchen had everything we needed. It was warm while we were there but the ceiling fans cooled well overnight; we did bring extra fans for the bedrooms. We enjoyed our day trip to Canon City and Royal Gorge. Be sure to visit Bishop's Castle if you get a chance...the mountain drive through the national forest is beautiful.

Family vacation!
This house was a great little get away. Even having no air conditioning we were good, just bought a couple fans that helped a lot. The only real negative I have is the entrance to the driveway, our car scraped when we came in. We figured it out and came in a different way. All in all we loved the house. We would definitely come here again.
We enjoyed this comfortable and clean vintage cottage, which was as described with mountain type decore. Thankfully the weather co-operated during this October visit and made our stay pleasant.
There were many mule deer every morning that walked right thru the property close by and the setting was really pretty with a full moon to brighten the evenings. The San Isabel National forest drive was so beautiful and also very close by...(though a dirt road). The Roku TV was helpful as we could watch the weather. Thank you for making your family homestead available for a rental.

About the host
Hosted by Bonnie Rundell
I grew up in Beulah Valley on a cattle ranch, Silver Circle Ranch, just 3 miles up North Creek Road very near Mountain View Cottage. When my folks retired from ranching, they bought this property, 17 acres of Mountain Hay, farm house and barn. Over the years, small additions, remodeling, and upgrades have been made to the house. I am in residence two to three months out of the year and share it as a vacation rental when I am not here.
Why they chose this property
I inherited this property, and find such peace when I'm able to stay at Mountain View Cottage. Friends and family insisted folks would be thrilled for the opportunity to visit the Valley and relax at Mountain View Cottage just as it is. And, that is how I represent and rent it - just as it is. I love sharing my secret hide-away with other guests, and they all seem to love coming back each year as much as I do!
What makes this property unique
The views, wildlife, and quiet solitude are just a few of the wonderful attractions at the Cottage. One of my favorite places is the front porch - I call it my "office". I work, read, and rehearse from the comfort of a lawn chair while watching deer, hummingbirds, horses, and the mountains.
