Have you ever stayed in a Grain Silo? This Silo house is a one of a kind unique getaway just 30 miles south of DFW. On 10 gorgeous acres of fields and forest, shared with The Yurt in the Woods. With a gated entry and all the privacy and peacefulness for a great stay. Enjoy breathtaking sunrises with a cup of coffee on the bedroom balcony. Living room has a comfy sofa bed and large L sectional. Start a fire and take in some of the most beautiful sunsets. Then lay back on the Lounge chair and wonder at a 360 veiw of the stars. No city lights. You may be in the country but with this silo you will have plenty of luxury. Melt away the city in our two person Steam sauna shower equipped with Radio and color changing lights. You set the mood. 60' UHD Samsung TV with Theatre sound and BlueRay player and Firestick. LP player with LPs in the bedroom, great little place to dance. Have a picnic by the seasonal pond in the back (no fish or swimming ). Take a stroll in the BigFoot Forest or lay back take a snooze or watch the wild life. Follow us on Facebook @ The Silo House. There is a security camera for out side protection. Shared property with The Yurt in the Woods and The RV Bunk House also available for rent.

The silo and the property are very lovely, it was a wonderful getaway. The shower was very relaxing and the bed is incredibly comfortable. We would definitely stay again, and they had the world's cutest dog come by to say farewell when we were getting ready to check out. We highly recommend it! Google Maps doesn't map quite to the right place, but if you drive further down Cox road you'll find the correct number, and the host was very responsive and kind in helping us find our way!

The place was very cute. The only disappointment was there was no hot tub as is shown in the picture. I rented this for my son and his wife to have a quiet place to stay the night if there wedding.

Great weekend getaway

Wife and I enjoyed our weekend getaway in the “silo” not far from town for those who want to see people but far enough away to feel like your disconnected for hustle and bustle.

The property was beautiful! The hosts put a lot of effort into making this place a beautiful spot to stay. The icing on the top of the already wonderful cake is the hot tub we enjoyed after a long day at the Renaissance Fair. We would absolutely stay again!

Howdy, Im Lykele Tamminga but you can call me Lee and Cathy and our fur child, Fia. I am from a small northern farm town in Holland and moved to Waxahachie in 1984. I grow up on a dairy farm in Holland and Waxahachie. Cathy is from Hickory NC and moved to Texas in 1979. We were Jr.High sweethearts for 2 years then we went our separate ways. 25 years later we end up back together. We both grow up here... literally just across the fields. I am a grain harvester and Cathy is a homesteader. Starting greenhouses and chicken coops this year. We wanted to share our unique Silo House with others while we are gone for harvest.

Why they chose this property

After the family dairy stopped milking I decided to recycle the grain silo... into our house. I had 15 acres to put it on, so I welding two trailers together and hooked up to the tractor and away we went. I did all the welding and fabrication and had a local builder help with the framing and interior. I studied the sunrises and sunsets so that you could see both views from inside. It truly is peaceful and quiet out here. You can truly feel like you are the only people on Earth.

What makes this property unique

Some of the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets...Weather sitting on the porch or the balcony. There is always a breeze at The Silo House which is great for the Hammock in The BIg Foot Forest. Plus you get to stay in a round house that once feed thousands of Dairy Cows... Pretty Cool. And check out our little/big town of Waxahachie. So much to do and see here for all walks of life.
