We booked this VRBO listing through Expedia, which unfortunately showed no visible guest reviews at the time. While the description accurately listed the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and overall layout, the apartment was in much worse condition than the photos suggested. The flat had damaged furniture, broken fans, unclean rooms, and clearly needed a fresh coat of paint. The neighborhood is lively and quite noisy, with activity continuing late into the early morning hours, which made sleeping difficult. Some caution should be exercised on this point. We documented the issues upon arrival and promptly contacted the management team. Their response was slow, and they only offered to reimburse the cost of any new fans we purchased ourselves. We declined, as we had no interest in spending our vacation fixing the owners’ property. It should also be noted that the listing title is somewhat deceptive as no parking is included or associated with the flat. There is nearby garage parking which is quite expensive. Overall, the listing did not meet our expectations for comfort or cleanliness.

This is a well located large appartment with 2 bedrooms, clean and well-equiped. It is however in my opinion too expensive for the value.First, very noisy until very late at night, even on weekdays, because of the proximity of a large busy street lined with student bars. Deliveries in the early morning, drunk people shouting, happy drunks whistling, you name it. The check-in process was not smooth because we were given the wrong lock code for the keys, which caused unnecessary stress; fortunately the host proceeded to give the right code shortly after. The biggest letdown however was the rooftop patio - which, admittedly, is why we felt for the place. The door got stuck shut on our first night, which prevented us from using the place and made the whole appartment uncomfortably hot. Despite us providing photo and video evidence, no maintenance was provided during our stay. We slept even more poorly, given that 2 of the 3 fans were broken and other windows could not be kept open on account of the noise. Also noteworthy: the entrance is tiny and the steps are steep. We couldn't have fitted 2 full-size luggages and us at the same time. You should also plan on asking the people sitting on the stoop to move whenever entering. My advice would be to rent elsewhere. There are nice views everywhere in Ghent, you don't need this patio. At the very least, make sure they fixed the patio door beforehand (and if traveling summer, the fans).

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you appreciated the apartment’s spacious layout, cleanliness, equipment, and central location. We sincerely apologize for the incorrect check-in code and the inconvenience this caused. We’re also sorry that the rooftop terrace door issue affected your comfort during your stay. We understand how disappointing this must have been, especially since the terrace was an important part of your decision to book the apartment. Regarding the noise, the apartment is centrally located in a lively part of Ghent, close to restaurants, bars, and a busy street. While this location offers excellent access to the city, we understand that the surrounding activity can be noisy, particularly at night. We appreciate that this may not suit every guest’s preferences. We take your feedback regarding the fans, terrace door, and overall comfort seriously, as we want our guests to enjoy their stay and get a good night's rest. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. Your feedback helps us identify where improvements are needed.

This house looks as it does in the pictures but it has not been maintained well. The walls are very marked, bathroom surfaces are marked. There is mould in the bathroom grouting. The plugs in the bathroom sink and the kitchen sink do not work so difficult to wash up. The house is very very hot in summer as no blind on the westerly window in the living room. There is no aircon and the two of the three fans provided were broken. We had to wash the glass wear on arrival and clean the fridge and the microwave. The outside wooden table has perished and legs are broken. The blinds in the bedrooms are dirty and some are broken. A plug was hanging out of the wall which was very dangerous. The street below is very noisy all through the night with people going home after a big night out. We were woken about 12 times a night from people making a lot of noise till around 4am. The house is on four levels and the stairs are a challenge - definitely not a place for older people or those with small children. The management company, Casiola Belgium, showed no interest in addressing our concerns. We experienced the same issues that Jorge experienced as in his review in July 2026 but these had not been addressed by the management company. My advice would be to stay somewhere else.

Thank you, Gillian, for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are very sorry that your stay did not meet the standard we aim to provide. We take the concerns you raised regarding cleanliness, maintenance, the bathroom and kitchen fixtures, fans, blinds, outdoor furniture, and the electrical issue very seriously. In particular, the loose electrical plug should not have been present, and we regret that these issues were not identified and resolved before your arrival. We are also sorry to hear about the disruption caused by nighttime noise. While some aspects of the surrounding environment are unfortunately outside our control, we understand how significantly repeated nighttime disturbance can affect a stay. Your comments have highlighted several areas where maintenance and communication need to be improved, and we are following up on these matters with our management team. We also regret that you felt your concerns were not given sufficient attention during your stay. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention and are committed to making the necessary improvements so that future guests have a much better experience.
