About this property

Thompson Rig House, Thornton-Le-Dale

Summary:

Thompson Rig House, Langdale End, North Yorkshire, sleeps six in three bedrooms.

The Space:

Nestled at the head of a beautiful valley in the North York Moors National Park bordering both Dalby Forest and National Trust Moorland, this is a lovely family home which the owners let out seasonally to enable visitors to enjoy the amazing country environment and scenery which is a great place to relax and let the world disappear or use it as a base for walking, biking or touring the National Park and coastline - it is mountain bike heaven with the world class routes within Dalby Forest on the doorstep. Walkers and runners have many miles of open countryside and forest to explore including The Bridestones, Hole of Horcum and Blakey Topping. This recently converted contemporary barn has well planned spacious accommodation with feature stone walls and a wood burning stove. It is south facing with great views and to the rear is a private dining area with Chimnea and hot tub. It is new to the AirBnb site but already has a 5 Star Rating and many great reviews on the Sykes managers website

The Neighborhood:

Thornton le Dale is 12 miles away, a beautiful village with chocolate box cottages, streams and a good range of tea shops/cafes, gift shops, ice cream parlour, bakery, a model village and two good pubs. Just a short drive outside the village is the award winning Cedar Barn Farm shop and cafe/restaurant with children's play area. A couple of miles further along is the market town of Pickering, home to the North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway running across the moors to Whitby, travelling through Newtondale 'Yorkshire's own Grand Canyon' and calling at Goathland; home of Heartbeat. Helmsley with it's castle and Yorkshire's food capital Malton are well worth a visit, for a family day try Eden Camp, Flamingoland or Castle Howeard also the seaside towns of Scarborough and Whitby are easily accessible with everything they offer or perhaps try one of our favourites, Robin Hoods' Bay, Boggle Hole, Sandsenbd or Rievaulx Abbey. But many people, once at Thompson Rigg Farm, just don't want to go anywhere.
