About this property

Scoor House - Garden Cottage. Beautiful rural view. 3 bedroom cottage

Scoor House is set in a wonderfully peaceful and remote location, around three miles from the village of Bunessan and the main road. Access is via a two-mile farm track, which can be uneven in places and is best taken slowly—part of the journey that helps make this hidden corner of Mull feel so special.

Surrounded by open countryside, the property offers far-reaching views towards Loch Assapol, with the sea visible to both the east and west. It’s an ideal setting to relax, unwind, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Ross of Mull.

Just a short walk from the house, you’ll find two beautiful white sandy beaches—Scoor and Kilvickeon—along with the historic abandoned township of Shiaba, perfect for exploring and taking in the area’s unique character. Once a thriving crofting community. Shiaba was cleared during the Highland Clearances, and todays its ruins stand as a poignant reminder of the island's past within a dramatic and beautiful landscape.

Scoor House is a traditional farmhouse converted into four self-catering apartments and an adjoining cottage, set on a working farm (dogs must be kept on a lead due to livestock).

Garden Cottage sits adjacent to Scoor House and offers its own private entrance and enclosed garden, creating a peaceful and secluded retreat with beautiful countryside views. Thoughtfully suited to couples, families, or small groups, it provides a comfortable and relaxing base from which to experience island life at a slower pace.

The private garden offers a peaceful outdoor space to relax and take in the surrounding countryside views. Furnished with comfortable outdoor seating, a picnic table, and three benches, it’s ideal for al fresco dining, morning coffee, or unwinding in the fresh island air. The garden is also pet-friendly, so well-behaved dogs are welcome to enjoy the space with you.

Hi
I'm Sophia resident housekeeper and manager of Scoor House,. I look forward to being your host when you book a stay. I live onsite and I am always available to help if needed or just for a chat.

I have managed all the properties here at Scoor for the past 3 years and its an incredible place to live and work with plenty of downtime in-between.
I always enjoy meeting people from all walks of life from around the world and many rebook, they come as guests and leave as friends.

I used to come to Mull on holiday and used to stay across the Loch, and could see Scoor House in the distance and always thought Id love to live somewhere remote like that, then the opportunity came to manage all the properties here. Within the month I moved from Northumberland to live my dream life.

My passions are wildlife and landscape photography; and this is the perfect place to get behind my camera, we regularly see eagles fly past the area and hen harriers as well as a variety of other birds, and the landscape is stunning.
My other passion is crafting, and you will find a small selection in the entrance of the main house, as well as some of the local shops in Fionnphort and Iona.

What makes this property unique

If you’re drawn to wild, unspoilt landscapes, this is a place to truly switch off. Surrounded by open countryside, beaches, and walking routes rich in history, Scoor House offers a slower pace of life where nature is always at your doorstep.
Our cosy apartments have welcomed returning guests for over 30 years—a reflection of the peaceful setting and the lasting connection many feel to this special corner of Mull.
