Beautifully Appointed Room in a Brilliant Location
: Room was finished to a high standard and the furnishings were beautiful. The picture in the booking was exactly the room which we were delighted with.
Very comfortable bed and covers, all high quality decorations.
The shower water was a good pressure and the temperature was easy to adjust, lovely smelling shower gel and hand soap.
The mini kitchen was equipped with a kettle and a coffee machine fridge etc
Short walk from King’s Cross or Euston and set on a Crescent with other hotels overlooking tennis courts, it’s very quiet at night and there are a lot of green trees that add to the ambiance. The location is excellent, I would stay here again but probably in a different room or a different time of year if they don’t sort out the room temperatures.
The room was extremely hot, so much so that we could not sleep well for the three evenings. The fan provided was not sufficient for cooling, and there is no air conditioning - I think this really needs looking at because I am sure other guests will have the same issue. I complained via the chat function on the first nights as there are no staff in the building however I didn’t get a reply until after I checked out and was on the train home 3 nights later.. the reply told me to turn off the radiators? The radiators were off! So I’m not sure if I was talking to a virtual assist, that wasn’t really timely or appropriate for July!
The room was on the top floor and the windows had opening restrictions which meant you could only open them by an inch which also was not sufficient to cool the room during the intense temperatures during our weekend. It was a lovely room however we tried to stay out as long as possible to avoid the sweltering heat inside the room, coming back late at night. We also kept the black out blinds down to try and keep the sunlight out but even that didn’t work.
The room was quite small and specified as this so we expected that and the instructions identified the third floor, at the top of a small narrow staircase - you do need small luggage bags for this room as there is not much floor space and also to navigate the upper staircase safely. This may have been servants quarters when this was a house.
There was no room service as such which meant no change of towels during the stay, or replenishment of toilet roll, tea or coffee pods. It’s more like a starter pack. The cups were too large to sit in the coffee machine. There was no bath mat for the shower, the toiletry holder inside the shower was not fixed it was loose rested on the on and off bar, which made it look unfinished plus if that falls off it could injure a guest or damage the shower tray, just a few little things really that could easily be improved.
