About this property
Dartmoor Reach Alpaca Farm Stay Sleeps 8
A unique hybrid accommodation blending a traditional static caravan with a charming log cabin, set on a peaceful farm that served as our family home for nearly a decade before we built our eco house. Inside, spacious living areas feature a cosy lounge with a wood-burning stove, perfect for relaxing evenings. The double bedroom has a door that opens directly into the bathroom, while a small twin room with undersized beds leads into the hallway and then the fully equipped kitchen, which includes a dishwasher, gas hob, oven, microwave, toaster, and ample storage with a full-size fridge freezer. Step outside onto the decked area that extends into a large, lush garden. The living space comfortably seats eight and includes a smart TV and Wi-Fi. The dining area boasts a stylish table with seating for eight, and there's a dedicated gaming zone with a smart TV and Xbox. A double bedroom opens into a family bathroom with both shower and bath, while a bunk bedroom offers additional sleeping options. Large double doors lead to the garden, featuring a firepit, hammock, trampoline, and playful alpacas grazing in the field. This welcoming retreat offers comfort, fun, and a genuine farm experience. Dartmoor Reach is just a 10-minute drive from the stunning Dartmoor National Park, offering a unique glamping experience with the chance to hand-feed alpacas every day. More than just glamping, it features three beautiful cabins and a converted bus, providing comfortable accommodation for families. Each cabin sleeps four, designed for two adults and two children, with single beds measuring five feet long and two feet six inches wide. The Hen House is slightly smaller, reflected in the pricing. Cabins have a kitchenette with a gas hob, sink, and fridge, but no oven. Buttercup and Bluebell cabins include en suite WC facilities, while the Hen House has a private toilet and hot shower within 15 metres. The larger cabins also have an en suite toilet and an outdoor hot shower, all nestled beneath ancient oak trees in a five-acre field. This expansive space is home to twelve alpacas, thirty hens, ducks, and a couple of pigs. Each cabin is positioned to ensure privacy and unobstructed views. All huts are equipped with cutlery, plates, pots, and pans; linen and towels can be hired if needed. Each has a private deck with a picnic bench, sun loungers or day beds, fire pits, and logs available for purchase or hire. As a working farm, guests can expect to see alpacas outside their door, hens pecking around the fields, and pigs rooting in the mud. Children can enjoy play areas featuring a mud kitchen, wendy house, slide, and rope swing. Hosts Josh and Natalie live on-site and are happy to assist with any guest needs. Located on the edge of Dartmoor, the nearest Tor is Haytor, just ten minutes away by car. There are plenty of scenic walks nearby, including one to our award-winning local pub, The Claycutters Arms, South Hams Beaches close by.

About the host
Hosted by Host
Born on Dartmoor, Josh moved onto the farm in 2015, initially planning to stay only a few months while deciding where to live with his baby daughter Romy. He then met Natalie, originally from Scotland, who became his wife, along with Cerys, his future stepdaughter and Romy's future stepsister. Their shared dream was to create a peaceful retreat that reconnects guests with nature and promotes wellbeing. In 2019, they began farming alpacas, married in 2021, and opened for glamping the same year. The Big Red Bus arrived in 2022, adding to the charm. Natalie fulfilled her dream of building a yoga studio on site, reflecting her passion for wellbeing and spirituality. The family is relaxed and strives for self-sufficiency, growing their own vegetables and meat, collecting eggs, enjoying the countryside, campfires, and visits to the local pub. Natalie is a qualified yoga instructor with her own studio, while Josh dedicates himself fully to the farm, constantly seeking ways to improve the guest experience. Dartmoor Reach Alpaca Farm is now their life’s work. Guests love the warm welcome and laid back way of life.
