About this property
Cosy cottage with private parking and lovely views
On 2 levels, this lovely one bedroom cottage built in 2018 has been tastefully designed with all home comforts. On entering the property, the downstairs is open plan with a fully fitted kitchen, including an induction hob and electric oven, washer dryer microwave and coffee machine. Tea/coffee and powdered milk are supplied. The living/dining area is comfortably furnished and has wooden/tiled floors. The heating is electric. There is a smart television and blu ray player for your entertainment as well as Dab radio. We have plenty of books, dvd's and games for our guests. After a long day why not relax with a good book and a glass of wine.
Upstairs leads to a lovely bedroom and comfortable kingsize bed with quality bedding. The luxurious en suite with walk in power shower is next to the bedroom. Towels are supplied as well as shampoo/conditioner and body wash. There is a freeview TV. There are rugs on the wooden floor, a hanging rail for clothes and plenty of drawer space. There are far reaching views from the bedroom.
Outside, guests have exclusive access to a patio area with pergola and outdoor furniture and a gas BBQ where you can enjoy the sun on warm afternoons. We also have storage for your bikes (bring a lock). Bikes can also be rented locally.
On a clear night the stars are amazing and we are on the edge of the Northumberland dark skies park.
We are in walking/cycling countryside, near to the small town of Rothbury where you can buy supplies. There are plenty of pubs in Rothbury that serve good food and bigger towns, Morpeth and Alnwick which are both a 25 minute drive away.
There are many historic landmarks and country houses within easy driving distance, and we are 30 minutes from the coast. Edinburgh is approximately 2 hours away by car and 1 hour by train.
There are 2 local train stations which bring you from London and the South, and travel North up to Scotland. There is parking at both stations.
There is much to see and enjoy in rural Northumberland and National Trust members will be spoilt for choice with a wealth of properties and gardens to visit.
Please note that our nearest pub is 2 miles away.
We do not accept pets, so the cottage is suitable for people with allergies.

About the host
Hosted by Sue Whicker

We moved to Northumberland in 2010 from London for a lifestyle change. We bought a dog and horses with us and absolutely love the area and the outdoor life. We decided to build this beautiful cottage in 2015 to allow other people to experience this stunning part of the world. We live next door and are around most of the time and look forward to meeting you! Sue and Jamie
Why they chose this property
We viewed the house during our search for a property in the North East. It was above our price range, so we had to walk away. Fortunately the property came back on the market within our budget, so we jumped on the chance to live in this small hamlet. Everybody knows everybody, so we often get together socially and help out when needed.
What makes this property unique
A dark sky county, there is always the possibility of a view of the Northern Lights, if not, on a clear night the stars are amazing.
Sparsely populated, Northumberland is a place to enjoy peace and quiet. The roads are quiet and perfect for walking and cycling. The beach is a 25 minute drive away and Morpeth and Alnwick are a short distance.
We have a wealth of historic places to visit, and if a National Trust member you will be spoilt for choice.
