About this property

Spectacular Gorge views! Bright and Comfortable Retreat

"Hawk's Nest" is a beautiful and bright 2 bedroom, 1 bath home that is the perfect place to relax and recharge. Newly constructed, The Nest comfortably sleeps 6, has a modern, well-appointed kitchen, open concept dining and living room area and beautiful tile bathroom. The Nest is an ideal home base for all the Gorge has to offer--hiking, biking, wine-tasting, windsurfing, museums and more. But, be warned--The Nest is so cozy and comfortable and the views so spectacular, you may not want to leave!

The first floor has two bedrooms and a full bath. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed and window with a view of the Columbia River. Bedroom 2 has a bunk bed with a double on the bottom and twin on the top. This bedroom has a lockable sliding glass door to the front of the house. The full bath has a gorgeous, modern tile shower.

The light and bright upstairs has a wall of windows that allow guests to soak in the spectacular view of the Columbia River and surrounding areas. The views are truly awesome! The upstairs is a small "great room" with seating area, dining area and kitchen. The seating is oriented to enjoy the flat-screen TV with cable or the spectacular views. There is a fun loft area perfect for sleeping, reading, playing games, or for the kids to put on a talent show. The stylish couch folds flat into a comfortable double bed. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances (including dishwasher) and is very well-appointed. There is a dining table that seats 6 plus bar seating.

The Nest is located on a quiet cul-da-sac that is perfect for children to play and ride bikes. It has a large brick patio on the side with a propane grill and room to park 2 vehicles.

Mosier has as very cool vibe with two restaurants (Mosier Company and Rack & Cloth) serving incredible, locally sourced food, beer, wine, cider and spirits often times coupled with live music on their outdoor patios. There is also a well-stocked grocery/market (Brenna’s) and a cute ice cream parlor and local farmers market in the summer. All are within an easy walk of our house.

Easy access to Mosier Tunnel Trail and Route 30 for biking, and you can hike to a beautiful waterfall and wildflower hike right out the door. It's a quick and easy drive to downtown Hood River for shopping and restaurants, while still feeling away from it all. Book our home instead of a Hood River Property and save 8% in occupancy tax.

This structure is the guest home for our main house, "Hawk's View", which is located behind it. The Nest can be rented in conjunction with the main house (see VRBO listing #438847) or by itself. It is a separate structure from the main house with it's own entrance and parking. The main house sleeps up to 14 so when rented together with this property, it allows up to 20 guests to stay together while still having enough space to spread out. This is truly a one-of-a kind Gorge estate perfect for family reunions or multi-family get-aways.

No pets allowed.

We encourage fun but being respectful to our neighbors is top priority. No loud parties allowed.

Small Getaway
Its a nice very small 2 story home. Very nice and clean. We didn't spend much time there as we spent the days out and about. The pictures make it look bigger than what it really is, so if you dont mind small spaces that place is perfect. We also weren't expecting the Columbia River to actually be across the interstate. It was still a great view and I still would recommend.

Great Views, hikes close to property.
Small place but great views, not many restaurants or groceries at location in Mosier Oregon, but the town of Hood River, with many more amenities, is only 5 miles away. A few small changes or repairs need to be made, that I think the owner is working on, will make the place more comfortable, like a missing blind in the front window that is needed to reduce the effects of the blinding sun which hits in the late afternoon. The host was responsive when contacted.

We fell in love with the Gorge in the 1990's. Windsurfing was the initial draw but the astounding beauty and access to world class recreation-mt and road biking, rafting, hiking, fishing, golfing, and more kept us coming back. The restaurants and shops are top notch and the wine tasting and access to local produce are stellar! We chose to build our home in Mosier because of it's unique Columbia River views and it's small town charm. It's so close to all that Hood River offers but you feel greater calm and serenity here. We built our main home, Hawk's View in 1999 and our guest home, "The Nest" in 2017. We are happy you are considering it for your next vacation.

Why they chose this property

We built The Nest in order to accommodate more family and friends when we are there so that we can share the bounty of the Gorge with our loved ones. The Nest has been a perfect place for us to house grandparents or another family who want to be close but also want some privacy or peace and quiet. When we are not using it, we are happy to rent it to families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a relaxing and fun get-away. The view is spectacular and the space is surprisingly spacious.

When rented in conjunction with the main house, parties of up to 20 people can stay together which is unique and unmatched in the area.

What makes this property unique

Our renters enjoy the spectacular views, the proximity to recreational options (particularly the hike to the waterfall and bluff right from the house), wine tasting (several wineries right up the road!), less than 10 minutes to Hood River, the coziness of our home and the excellent communication and care from the owners.

From our home, you can bike to the Mosier Twin Tunnel Trail and other amazing road bike options. The strong consistent winds coupled with smaller crowds at the local windsurf/kite beach (Rock Creek), which you can see from the house, make this a perfect launch pad for the windsurfer/kiter.
