About this property

Eco-friendly, bio-built cabin in the forest

What We Love Most About the Cabin
What we love most about this space is its living architecture and the warmth that permeates every corner. The cabin is built using local earth and traditional eco-construction techniques such as adobe and bajareque. This gives it fascinating natural thermal regulation: thick walls that embrace and maintain a warm atmosphere while outside you feel the characteristic coolness of the mountains.

On foggy nights, the heart of the ranch is our traditional wood-burning fireplace, perfect for sharing a hot drink, reading, or spending time with family around the fire. Additionally, being located on a second level (accessed by stairs) offers a privileged view of the forest canopy, allowing you to wake up at the level of the pine treetops with natural light illuminating the rustic wood finishes.

True sustainability, country living, and eco-technologies (What you should know before booking)
To fully enjoy the experience, it is essential that all members of your group understand and embrace how our space operates:

Dry Toilets (Ecological Sanitation): We do not use conventional flush toilets. We use high-tech, socially responsible composting dry toilets. They are a clean, completely odorless, and hygienic system that relies on plant matter for coverage. They prevent groundwater contamination and transform waste into fertile soil.

Farm Life and Animals on the Property: We live in a vibrant rural setting. The property is home to three very friendly guard dogs and mixed-breed dogs, as well as some chickens that roam their fenced-in areas. If you like animals, you’ll love their company; if you’re not used to the presence of dogs or the natural sounds of the countryside, it’s important to consider this before booking.

100% Rainwater: All of the cabin’s water comes from rainwater collection and filtration systems. Every drop is treated with the utmost respect.

Solar Power: The lighting and electrical systems in the cabin are powered by solar panels.

Stair Access: The cabin is located on the second floor, so access requires climbing stairs (not suitable for people with limited mobility).

What You’ll Love About the Area and Surroundings
Located in the tranquility of the Ejido de Atzingo, just 30 minutes from the centre of the “Pueblo Mágico” (Magical Town) of Zacatlán de las Manzanas, the surroundings offer a complete reconnection with nature:

Night Skies and Stars: Far from urban light pollution, the nights offer a breathtaking starry spectacle to admire while gathered around the campfire.

Forest and Hiking: Trails flanked by pine and oak trees with the scent of damp ocote, ideal for gentle hiking, breathing in fresh air, or meditating.

Culture and cuisine just 30 minutes away: The proximity to Zacatlán allows you to visit the famous mosaic murals in the ravine, sample traditional cheese-filled bread and artisanal ciders, or plan a trip to the relaxing hot springs of Chignahuapan.

Your stay makes a social impact
When you stay with us, you’re not just renting a private retreat. CEDES is an initiative supported by the Mexican Institute for Community Development (IMDEC), which means that 100% of the funds received go towards financing community projects, agroecology, and the preservation of ancestral knowledge among the region’s indigenous peoples.
