About this property

Mulberry Eco Beach House - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Mulberry is a light-filled, modern beach house designed for comfort and coastal living. Set within a quiet cluster of eco-homes, it offers generous open-plan interiors and relaxed outdoor spaces, perfect for families, friends or couples. Mulberry is set at the back of the development with no buildings behind, and with open countryside to the side. Inside, you'll find a spacious living and dining area with two large sofas, beanbags, and a dining table seating six. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, from everyday essentials to kid-friendly plasticware and picnic gear.

Upstairs, the principle king bedroom features an en-suite and its own balcony (and can be made into twin on request). The second bedroom is a twin (can be made into king on request), followed by a double bedroom and a well-appointed family bathroom. A cot, high chair and stair gate are also available on request.

Outdoor living is easy, with a south-facing deck ideal for sun-soaked breakfasts and an enclosed rear patio with picnic table. Guests love the added touches: a beach cupboard to borrow bits from, and shelves full of books and games. With a welly rack, shared outdoor après-surf shower, and space for two cars, everything's been considered for a relaxed, easy-going stay.

In the same location you can also rent Anemone, sleeping 8. Why not reach out to family or friends to make some amazing Porthtowan memories together?

Out and about in Porthtowan and the surrounding area

Nestled between rugged cliffs on Cornwall's north coast, Porthtowan is a seaside gem with striking scenery and a wonderfully relaxed vibe. It's the kind of place that works beautifully for a Cornish break year-round — whether you're seeking adventure or simply want to slow down and soak up the setting. Staying at Mulberry means you're just a few minutes' stroll from the village centre.

Porthtowan's Blue Flag beach is a favourite with surfers, swimmers and families. Summer days are all about sandy toes, rock pooling, and lazy barbecues as the sun sets, with surf lessons and equipment hire available if you'd like to get out on the waves. In season, lifeguards are on duty (check times here). Families will love the play area just above the sand and the tidal pool that appears at low tide. Come autumn and winter, the bay transforms into an awe-inspiring spot for bracing walks and dramatic storm watching. At low tide you can walk along the beach to the neighbouring beach at Chapel Porth, and then back along the coast path to Porthtowan, stopping for a coffee break at the infamous cafe at Chapel Porth Beach.

The village has everything you need for a memorable stay, with a handy shop and a brilliant choice of places to eat and drink. Watch the sun go down at the legendary Blue Bar, tuck into hearty pub classics at The Unicorn, or grab award-winning fish and chips from Seasmith's. The Beach Café is ideal for a cosy bite, while Moomaid of Zennor's ice cream parlour will keep sweet tooths more than happy.

The South West Coast Path passes straight through Porthtowan, offering some of the most spectacular coastal walking in Cornwall. Head east towards Chapel Porth and the iconic engine house ruins of Wheal Coates, or continue to St Agnes, with its bustling pubs, cafés and the award-winning Peterville Inn. To the west, dramatic cliff-top trails lead towards Portreath, with breathtaking views and regular sightings of seals and seabirds.

Porthtowan is also a brilliant base for day trips further afield. In half an hour or less, you can be wandering through art galleries in St Ives, exploring Falmouth's maritime history, shopping in Truro's cathedral city, or crossing the causeway to St Michael's Mount. You're also right in the heart of the UNESCO Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape, with opportunities to explore historic tin mines nearby. For bigger days out, the Eden Project, Minack Theatre and even Land's End are all within reach.

The layout works well for a mix of guests, with ample space for families, groups of friends, and multi-generational stays. The outdoor decking and quiet corner position offer a sense of privacy, and the nearby communal showers are a hit after sandy beach days. Guests also love how everything is made easy—from clear arrival instructions and helpful local tips to responsive and friendly communication throughout.

The location is a major highlight—just a short walk to Porthtowan's Blue Flag beach, which is loved for its surf, tidal pool, and dramatic coastal walks.
