We stayed here for one night on our way back home and were very impressed. It's a very unique area being on the river, I'm glad we were able to see it.
Beautiful spot on the river in the back, and a very cozy getaway. Host was responsive and helpful!

Arrived to a place that was too good to be true. You can hear the sound of the rapids on the river from the cabin. Inside of the cabin holds everything you want, need and may have forgotten and very clean. Not a luxury hotel, but a 5 star experience for a stress free getaway with no hiccups!

incredible winter get away
We loved sitting by the fireplace, cooking tasy meals, looking out the full wall windows at the changing river and particularly enjoyed watching the river otter fishing off the edge of the ice. We went Cross Country skiing at the Nordic Center in Mora and then again at St. Croix State Park. Very comfortable place to stay! We'll be back.

Thanks for coming out, there are a ton of things to do in the winter, lots of fun in the summer, too!
We had a great stay at the cabin. The location is excellent right on the snake river. Very very pretty. We took full advantage of the fire pit, kayaks on property, as well as the tubes. Our hosts were prompt to respond when we reached out to them. All in all, we had a great stay and would recommend to anyone traveling in this area of Minnesota. Also, the WiFi works well for anyone who needs it.
We loved the cozy cabin which had all the amenities needed. Loved the morning view from the bedroom and the fire pit which was on the river bank. Perfect getaway from the Twin Cities. Our dog also love being outdoor. Need good fans as only 1 of the 2 fans was really working and sometimes it got hot in the cabin even with the windows open. Will surely visit again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay! We'll check out the fan situation.
The process was super smooth and everything met expectations for cleanliness and preparations. If there was one item to change, I’d say the little tv could use an upgrade. Other than that, wonderful getaway!

Perfect way to disconnect
Enjoyed our stay very much. All we needed was there. Having no TV reception was a nice break, and got caught up on DVDs I'd been meaning to get to. WiFi is there if you have to check on things but...don't. :)
Hoping to make it back there in the summer.

Cozy winter getaway
This is a great cabin that feels off the beaten path. The cabin looks tiny when you first pull up, but once inside there is ample room to settle in and enjoy. The cabin was clean and had everything you'd expect from a vrbo property.
The half frozen river flowing by and quiet/natural surroundings were very peaceful and relaxing. On the first day of our stay we were lucky enough to see a pair of otters pop out of the water and onto the ice to feast upon a fish. So cool!

We really worked on trying to maximize the space, glad you liked it
It was a nice quiet location. We had the river out back. It was very peaceful. We didn't have great cell service. But the internet worked well. My only recommendation would be for there to be tv stations available. There were dvds, but would've preferred to have some form of cable. We were able to bring both our dogs, so that was great! I would definitely stay again.
This is probably the best stocked VRBO I've ever stayed at--I brought all sorts of kitchenware only to have more than enough equipment inside. The house was clean and well kept. Two things to be aware of:
-Its enormously BUGGY. It's on Wilderness Road so not surprising but bring lots of big spray and a a fogger.
-The bed in the guest bedroom is not that uncomfortable but it squeaks like nothing I've heard before. May benefit from some WD40.
But ultimately this is one of the best stats I've had with VRBO and would go again in a less insect-heavy season.
A friend and I were going for a weekend of sewing. It was winter, the path to the house was barely shoveled. We had to shovel more to get to the house. The code was wrong and we didn’t have reception so we had to drive into town to call the owner, and when we finally got in, the smoke detector was chirping because of low battery and it was in the peak of the ceiling so we couldn’t reach it. We did get a full refund, but we had packed all our sewing stuff and food so not only were we super disappointed but we had to go straight home and unpack.

Exceeded our expectations
Pictures dont do it justice! I didn't realize the cabin was open and airy from the pictures. We drove up and the cabin looked tiny, but upon entering - the layout, windows and vaulted ceilings really opened up the space. It was really cozy. Outside, we fished right off the shore. Caught a 15 pound cat fish and numerous bass, red horse etc. We brought a few small children so didn't make use of the canoes or tubes. I wouldn't recommend the place for toddlers as it a steep slope off the shore but there is another area where you can take the stairs down to enjoy the river. The owner was also very responsive to all my questions and last minute requests. It is very apparent the place is well loved. It's also nice to know all the sheets and towels are washed and cleaned prior to our arrival and ready for use. I see us coming back here soon. Thanks for the stay

Thanks for loving the cabin as much as we do! Neighbor just caught a 57" inch sturgeon off his dock, so the fishing is fun, you never know what you are going to catch!

Needed to clean before unpacking. Second bedroom bed was unusable
Refrigerator was gross. It had sticky food on all the shelves. Needed to clean before unpacking our food. Freezer had 3 ice cube trays that had dirt in the frozen ice. Bunk bed in the second bedroom was unusable. 2 of the middle support beams were broken. Could see the sag by just looking at the bed. Tried to use the top bunk instead but after climbing up 2 steps of the ladder the whole thing was shaking and we felt it was unsafe. Floor was dirty. Wore socks in the house and they were filthy. Contacted the owner and she said, You do not appear to be happy leave immediately and she would refund the 2 nights we did not use. Her welcome book states if you want a 5-star experience you are in the wrong place. If you run out of something get creative or make do. That information should be part of her advertising. The outdoors was amazing. Thank goodness it was a beautiful weekend and we spent most our time outside. I do not except 5 star but I do expect beds that are in good condition.

We have a professional cleaning company for the cabin. We also take pictures and inspect the cabin prior to every stay. When the guest reached out to us with their complaint, we offered them an immediate refund, as they seemed incredibly unhappy. They refused. We offered an inspection for any issues and additional cleaning if necessary. They again refused to let us come by and chose to stay for an additional 3 days. We strive to make the cabin an enjoyable experience for everyone, as reflected in our other 80 reviews.
My wife, myself, our adult daughter, and teenage son enjoyed a very pleasant 3 days relaxing between Christmas and New Year's. The cabin was smaller than we expected but it's well laid out and the drop-leaf rolling cabinet provided space for games, puzzles, and eating.
This was a great location for visiting family in Sandstone, just a 20minute drive on the interstate. The cabins are great for families as they are very close together. We would definitely love to stay in the summer when we could enjoy the river that is right in the back yard!

About the host
Hosted by J Berkland
We are a busy family with lots of adult kids who love to travel, any time, any where. Born and bred in Minnesota, you can always find us in, on, or under the water. Our home reflects our love of the lake, the country and the ever changing seasons. Our cabin reflects our love of up north and getting away from it all as we watch the endless river flow. We are low maintenance, casual travelers, and hope you are the same.
Why they chose this property
This is one of the nicest pieces of river frontage I have seen. Level and wooded with a panoramic view of the Snake River. Cabin was completely remodeled in 2018-changed the floorplan, tripled the amount of windows, added a fireplace and washer/dryer. Completely redid the bathroom and expanded the deck. There is another cabin nearby that I own that can be rented. Together they would accommodate 11 people. #2121659
