About this property

Fantastic loft in rustic style - Clemson

800 sq/ft full apartment above our barn-garage that sleeps 4. We have separate parking and private entrance. Equipped with full kitchen (with dishwasher), laundry, private deck and fire pit. We have adequate parking and pull thru drive for guests with boats.

New rustic style furnishings plus 65" Smart TV, USB chargers built-in to the outlets, fast WiFi. Queen pillow soft mattress. Shopping, restaurants and amenities are close and the Clemson stadium is easy access.

A great place to relax and enjoy a quality lifestyle away from city life as the property sits on 27 acres of mature forest. The neighborhood consists of attractive single family homes on 1 acre and up. The road used is for residents only and many walk for exercise on our quiet streets. Our property is located at the beginning of the neighborhood.

Free public transportation is available about 1 mile from our property on HWY 93 (Old Greenville Hwy). The CAT Bus routes include Southern Wesleyan University, Clemson and Clemson University with stops at local grocery stores, Walmart and more.
Other things to note
Our property is located just outside the Clemson city limits so you can enjoy traffic free driving (even during game days) to the grocery stores (Ingles, Walmart Neighborhood Market, Bi-Lo and Publix) some are opened 24 hrs and minutes from the site.

For outdoors is easy to get to local parks on the lakes as well Issaqueena forest for hiking or mountain biking. For road cycling we are located in a great area with small farm roads and challenging hills. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 50 miles away.

For kayaking, we live near the Twelve Mile River that has challenging rapids and quiet sections that lead to Lake Hartwell. There are also places to put in on Lake Keowee, the northern part has awesome mountain vistas.

For hiking, locally there is Issaqueena Forest, the famous Foothills trail about 30 minutes away

Whitewater rafting trips are available on the Ocoee, Chattooga and Nantahala River- all day and half day excursions. There are also boat excursions on Lake Keowee and Jocassee.

We are also located about 1:45 min from Asheville and 2 hours from Charlotte and Atlanta. 50 min from Greenville-Spartanburg airport

No smoking on the premises or in the apartments. No pets. No suitable for children under the age of 10. No parties or gatherings permitted.

Owners live in a separate dwelling (house) separate from the barn/garage. We have 3 cats that reside on the premises and they are not allowed in the apartment. No children live on the premise. We do have local wildlife like deer and foxes that visit and can be observed from the deck.

We have a Smart lock with key code on the entry door which will be given 1-2 days prior to arrival.

Fantastic loft!

This is my second stay in the loft and again I was so delighted. What a beautiful, comfortable home in the middle of stunning acreage with swaying green trees. The home is super well stocked and Mary had snacks and drinks waiting for me which was so appreciated after a cross-country flight and a drive from Atlanta. Every detail has been considered in this home.

Relaxing Rainy Weekend

This is our 4th (or 5th) stay in The Loft! We love the atmosphere and the proximity to Clemson. We came up to watch the game and visit with our niece. However, we wound up skipping the game due to bad weather and COVID jitters. We spent such a restful weekend (our visit visit away from Charleston since March) listening to rain pattering on the roof and skylights. A cozy, welcoming space to hang out. One day we will light up the fire basket in the little rocky nook outside. Also fun to see two massive cats stalking about. A great football destination or just mountain getaway. This unit was just wonderful! The hosts seem to have thought of everything. A video to show where to park, how to use the keypad lock, notes for operating the TV, light switches, etc. I do not think there was anything else I would have needed that was not already thought of. The space was wonderful. I cannot believe how peaceful and rustic the outside surroundings were. The unit was beautifully decorated, lots of windows, airy, you name it. It was also decorated so well. A lot of thought was put into the design and decoration of this unit. I loved every minute of being there. You get so much for a price comparable to a hotel room and are still only minutes from Clemson, etc. I will definitely stay here again if it is available.

VRBO problem

There is a huge problem with this listing: VRBO allows for a maximum of only five stars, and this loft unit easily merits ten. Located in a beautiful wooded setting, the apartment was immaculate and incredibly comfortable. The owner was friendly and extremely helpful while at the same time being unobtrusive. Since my wife and I brought our bicycles, the owner pointed us to a number of trails that matched our (novice) ability. She also suggested that we walk/hike the various trails at the South Carolina Botanical Gardens on the Clemson campus some fifteen minutes away. We enjoyed it so much that we went twice. The owner put out deer food each morning and texted us with a brief "buck alert" when her four-legged friends stopped by to dine. What a sight! In short, this loft apartment was the perfect four-day getaway, and we strongly recommend it ... save for the times we hope to return!

We had a pleasant stay at the Rustic Loft in Clemson. It was wonderful to have coffee on the deck and take in the nature that surrounds the loft. The host was very prompt in responding to any questions we had as well as offering suggestions on activities in the area. The space was comfortable for the family to spend time together in the evening. Highly recommend!

Summer Getaway

Recent summer weekend stay. We found plenty of lakes, hikes , and small town eats close by. The urban cabin was decorated and well stocked with finest in every detail. We loved the serenity of the deer and birds that were daily visitors. Plus a Fire pit for relaxing, a grill, bike rack! Amazing property in upstate SC near Clemson. R&B Columbia, SC

We stayed at Mary and Mark's LUXURY LOFT from 5/16 leaving on 5/19. All I have to say about this place is WOW!! My boyfriend and I have stayed at several VRBOs and Air BnB's. THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE!! Wish every future trip we plan we can just put this place there! UNBELIEVABLE!! The cleanest, most modern VRBO we've seen!! Everything was high end...down to the utensils and EXPENSIVE sheets and towels. We live in our 5th wheel fulltime and getting away to this GEM of a property was AMAZING!! My boyfriend, who is 6'6" REALLY APPRECIATED THE LARGE STONE SHOWER! I loved the full sized washer and dryer!! They provided us with snacks and all kinds of sodas and warers. We enjoyed having the woods all around us. We had campfires EVERY NIGHT! SO NICE AND PEACEFUL! There are plenty of parks near by. We enjoyed hiking while there. We enjoyed visiting the Clemson campus. Saw the Central Railroad Red Caboose. Mark and Mary's house is next door. If you needed them, they were available. Otherwise the loft and firepit area were like having your own private space! FABULOUS!! I texted Mary on the VRBO app that we were going to be there an hour early to check in. She replied "Absolutely..ready when you are!" Thanks Mary and Mark! Can't wait to come back soon!! Hope for a longer stay this time!!

INCREDIBLE property so close to Clemson, but away from the hubbub of a home game weekend!

This is our second time staying at Mary's place. We absolutely love the quiet and peace of the property as well as the incredible amenities! We were there for three nights this trip and got to explore Stumphouse Tunnel and Issaqueena Falls in Walhalla as well as do a three state mini tour through SC, Georgia and NC. We lunched in Highlands on Friday afternoon. We were able to attend events for our son who is a senior at Clemson as well as the football game on Saturday. We even found a back way into town avoiding crazy game day traffic!! We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place to stay!

Everything about this loft was wonderfully comfortable. It was recently built after being obviously well thought out. The property is only a few minutes (<8) to downtown Clemson, but feels like it's deep in the Smoky Mountains. The host was wonderful and even sent a message suggesting to look for deer on the property in the morning (we woke up and saw 7 deer feeding one morning). Looking forward to hopefully staying here again. Thanks for the great stay!

My husband Mark and I are local business owners and avid cyclists. We moved here originally from Lake Mary, FL (north of Orlando) in 1993 to Clemson, SC. Mark grew up in Philadelphia, PA and attended Penn State as well as UCF, Orlando graduating with a Mech Eng degree. I (Mary) grew up in the Orlando area (Winter Park, FL) and attended Rollins College with a BS with Environmental Ed background, I went on to Lesley College in Cambridge, MA in conjunction with the Audubon Expedition Institute earned a Masters Degree.
We have 3 grown children.

Why they chose this property

We love the Clemson area and searched for a place that had a rural feel with acreage, yet close to our business and town and in a neighborhood with deed restrictions. This property has all that 27 acres, in the beginning of the neighborhood, a quiet, secluded.

What makes this property unique

Our house and barn/garage sits atop a hill at 800' elevation so you feel like you are on a mountain top as we over look the valleys around us. It is a mature forest of large hardwoods and pine.
We build that house and barn in 2015-2017 and worked hard not to disturb the wildlife. We have a variety of bird feeders and a deer feeder. In the spring we plant clover and other goodie for the deer and turkey.
