Normally, we provide a 14-foot, 3-row boat, but due to repairs, we had to substitute with our 12-foot boat. We understand a larger boat would be better for bigger groups like yours. The kitchen is equipped with new appliances, a dishwasher, and faucets, designed to maintain a rustic log cabin feel. We're so glad you had a great time and look forward to welcoming you back! Hi Eli, we’re so disappointed to see this review. We have been renting our cottage for 7 years now and have never received a review like this. As a VRBO “Premier Host” it is evident by our previous reviews that we consistently deliver a 5 star hosting experience to our guests. We have never received any complaints about cleanliness, our property is always left in immaculate condition by our cleaners and we personally inspect the property after every cleaning. Here are the facts: We rented our cottage to Eli and her family, 8 guests, for 3 nights and we were happy to accommodate their early check-in request for 1pm. When corresponding with her via phone conversation she was pleasant. This cottage is our family property, and we work hard to maintain it for others to enjoy. We left the cottage at the usual neat and tidy standard for Eli and her family. However we were disheartened to see how Eli and her guests left the cottage and that many of our house rules were not followed, showing a general lack of disrespect to our property. Specifically: The front door exterior camera was removed and turned off. The cottage had a strong overwhelming smell of shisha inside, even though it is a non-smoking property. The BBQ grills were removed and left dirty and on the ground next to the BBQ. A marshmallow roasting stick was permanently damaged and purposely bent out of shape to act as a make-shift rotisserie stick The oven element was left ON the low setting after departure causing a fire hazard. We received complaints from Island residents and neighbours who witnessed Eli and her family purposely leaving three days worth of garbage bags outside in the parking lot area (which wild animals later tore open making a mess), despite us providing three designated garbage drop-off locations that are listed in our cottage information which was emailed to guests prior to their stay, a binder at the cottage, and a text message sent prior to check-out. Regarding the isolated issue of low water pressure in the kitchen faucet, this was simply the result of lake sediment caused by a storm the night before. This is not uncommon for lake properties and can sometimes affect cottages that draw water from the lake. We promptly provided detailed instructions to resolve the issue (simply removing the faucet screen), and the water pressure was restored immediately. We even offered to dispatch our plumber to fix the issue. It was made clear through our phone conversation that water in the laundry room and bathrooms were in good working order. Furthermore, when asked how the rest of the accommodation was, there was never a mention of the cleanliness of the cottage that you speak of in your review. If there was such an issue, we would have dealt with the matter promptly as we did with the water issue. We offered compensation for the inconvenience caused by the water pressure issue. However, upon discovering the damage caused and additional cleaning required for the items mentioned above, we did not deduct from the damage deposit or provide compensation in lieu of the additional costs incurred by us. In the future, we simply ask that our guests show the same level of respect for the property as they would in their own homes. Our track record speaks for itself and we always aim to provide a pleasant guest experience to all our guests. Sincerely, Andria
