Hello Blair, I’m happy you enjoyed your recent stay at “A Paradise Inn”, (Unit G) at the Summerwinds Complex. Thanks for your comments. The Summerwinds Complex received its share of interior and exterior damages as a result of Hurricane Florence in October 2018. The repairs and insurance negotiations are still ongoing. Luckily, “A Paradise Inn” has been repaired and was one of three units in the 24 unit complex available for renting on 24 May 2019. Contractors are currently working 7 days a week completing siding and other exterior repairs. Much of the exterior work is done using lifts. It’s quite possible the “rusty nails on the decks” came from such repairs after the initial cleaning. The “rusty nails” issue has been corrected and the decks were thoroughly cleaned again. Blair, I hope your nice vacation experiences/memories are enough to bring you back next year to “A Paradise Inn”. Thank You Earnest Smith Owner

Glenn, Thanks for your review. The same day you checked out we had the Specturm Cable TV Techician upgrade all six cable boxes, provide a new modem and rewire the entire townhouse. David the maintenance man from the management office, who you met at the unit, was able to verify with the cable technician present that all televisions were working properly and any issues you experienced were corrected. We appreciate your feedback. The HOA worked diligently to get the pool up and running. Unfortunately it was something out of our control. We hope you enjoyed your stay despite the pool issue.

Thank you for visiting our wonderful island and staying with us. The cranking mechanism for the two windows were affected by sea salt. Sea salt can easily rust the internal parts over time. The parts or windows will be replaced before May 2021. Windows orders are taking well over 12 weeks. New bedroom furniture was ordered but unfortunatley not delivered prior to your stay. We certainly hope you will stay with us again.

Drew, I apologize for any inconvenience you and your family experienced during your stay in Summerwinds G (A Paradise Inn). I read your comments and have taken corrective action: (1) A new replacement sleeper sofa was purchased the same day we heard about it being broken but it couldn’t be delivered until after your departure. (2) The replacement mattress for the second sleeper sofa was delivered while you were still in the unit. (3) We added 2 rollaway beds during your stay (4) We will install additional towel racks where needed. “Filth and Uncleanliness” and “Dirty Surfaces”- The Management Cleaning Team thoroughly cleans and vacuums after each and every guest renter departs on Saturday morning. Drew, you are entitled to your opinion, however description of “Gross” seems like an over exaggeration when guests just prior to your stay said the following: “Great location. Very accurate photos and cool layout. Everything was great. We plan to go back! The location was good and decently clean”. Just so you are aware, in September 2018 Category 4, Hurricane Florence with its 130 MPH winds caused substantial damage to the Surf City/Topsail Island area. The unit you stayed in had 75% of its interior walls and ceiling stripped of drywall, plywood and insulation after a moisture scan determined there was moisture behind the walls and ceiling as a result of the wind driven rain and roof damage. The restoration/repair process lasted from October 2018 until May 2019 (a week before the first summer rental). The exposed walls and ceiling were treated with an anti-microbial paint/sealant before restoring the new insulation, plywood and drywall. The process of sanding and preparing the area for painting caused construction dust to fill the air and settle on uncovered areas and floors. Construction crews hired a group to come in and clean the unit. Construction dust has a way of lingering. It takes numerous cleaning sessions to get it all. The Island Real Estate Cleaning Team spent two days doing a thorough cleaning before the first summer rental. In addition, the unit is cleaned after each guest departs. Recovering from a major hurricane is a gradual process in getting things back to normal. We are doing our best. Drew, we will move forward with your comments and do everything to make the unit cleaner. Although you may not be interested in renting my unit again, don’t let that keep you from vacationing in the Surf City/Topsail Island area. You will be welcome! Earnest Smith Owner
