About the host
Hosted by Jim Lengel
Kathi and Jim Lengel own Au Pied du Chåteau. Kathi is a recovering school principal. Jim is a retired college professor. They live in Vermont at Crossett Hill Lodge for most of the winter. In the summer, they sail and swim from their camp at Lake Elmore in Vermont. They live in France at Au Pied du Château during the months of February, May, and October.
Why they chose this property
We have worked and traveled all over the world. We live at Crossett Hill Lodge in the hills of Vermont in the winter, and at Camp Elmore on a lake in Vermont in the summer. When the weather is not right for skiing or sailing, we visit Au Pied du Chateau in the south of France for a pleasant, peaceful, and civilized retreat.
What makes this property unique
Au Pied du Chateau sits on what looks like a movie set: a 12th-century castle at one end of the cobblestone pedestrian street, the 15th-century church at the other, and a 16th-century chateau with turrets across the street. They tell us ours is the oldest house in the village of Bourdeilles. Three cafes sit on the corner two doors down. The castle park across the street behind the church overlooks the Dronne river.
