Smoky Mountain Christmas

We stayed in this cabin over Christmas. The cabin was decorated and even had a tree which was great. The kitchen was lacking some necessities and the layout of the 3rd floor was very unexpected. Overall it was a good stay.

Lots of bears!!

We had an amazing stay. Even though we didn't have cable or internet the whole time (the host let us know before hand, so we knew it going). The kids enjoyed the pool table and Foosball table. We saw lots of bears. Our last night a mama and 3 cubs wondered into the yard and the kids were so excited. Everything was very clean.

The house was great. We loved the hot tub and deck. We did have 4 un-invited guest on the 2nd to last day. We were shocked by 4 bears, that came up on the 2nd floor deck. I was very exciting.

Out dated with some small issues

This place was one of the last available when we booked. It was out dated clean for the most part. They didn’t get behind the bathroom door. There was still hair and dirt behind it when we arrived. I ran out of hot water in my shower which was odd. The hot tub was nice and the beds were comfortable. The location is good too.

Great Mountain Getaway

This home is definitely dated, but it was clean & it served our purpose. It’s a steep mountain drive but the views are incredible. Great location with easy access to both Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge. The beds are very comfortable. Definitely be on the lookout for bears. Also, check the cabinets & pantry for food that was left behind by previous guests. We didn’t before we went grocery shopping & there were several things we didn’t need to buy. I would recommend bringing hand soap, paper towels, napkins, extra toilet paper & dish sponges.

Great Mountain stay

This property was amazing for a group of 7 and could have fit more. The kitchen was well stocked with pots pans utensils etc., beds were comfortable, and the teens greatly enjoyed the pool table and fuszball..and the hot tub! It's definitely a mountain road to get to it but enjoyable. The driveway is steep but turning around at the top made it easier to get out. One word of advice...if you miss the first turn from the parkway, do NOT follow GPS for the alternate route. Turn around and go back. I like mountain roads but that one (not the proper route, disnt turn around) was legit scary. Bonus for us, we did see a big black bear on the road around the corner from the house! I would definitely stay here again

Great location

Everything was great with the stay. House was clean and everything was in working order. The drive up the mountain was a very winding road and steep at some points but I survived. The location was great. So close to downtown Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park entrances. Owner was very prompt to respond to messages before and after our stay. The kids loved the hot tub and playing pool and foosball. The only issue we had was there were stink bugs in one of the bedrooms on the 3rd floor but with the recent flooding in surrounding areas I'm sure that played a huge part in it. Not like they're bugs that get in because the house is gross. I'll take the stink bugs over roaches or bed bugs for sure. It is located on the mountain and surrounded by trees so bugs are bound to get in and we just avoided that room and had the younger kids sleep on an air mattress that I had to go out and buy since I wasn't expecting to not be able to use a room. In the end it wasn't that big of a deal. Things happen and it is what it is. I would still stay there again regardless. I live in a rural wooded area so I'm not going to make a huge deal about it. We enjoyed the house. There was plenty of space for everyone and it was very peaceful to sit outside on the big porch and drink coffee in the mornings and look for wildlife. We did get to see a momma bear and her cub as well as a bobcat. Minus the stink bugs I still gave 5 stars.

Adequate, but lacking a bit

We stayed for six nights and the house was very adequate for our needs. We had plenty of space and it was great to have a home base that was close to a lot of activities that we had planned. The beds were comfortable and while the layout of the third floor was odd (no door to the bathroom from the bedroom or to the bunk room), it worked for us. A few things would have made our stay stellar instead of just okay. First, the listing’s title says “gorgeous view.” This is not accurate, at least in summer, as trees in front of the deck block any view at all. We had hoped to sit on the porch with our coffee in the morning and enjoy the view, but there were no views to enjoy. Second, the house feels run-down and in desperate need of a deep cleaning and possibly a fresh coat of paint. I felt the need to sweep the floors and use some disinfecting wipes when we arrived. The owner apologized when we called to let him know there were cleaning issues, saying there had been a big group there before us who had left a mess. We do understand that at times, but the large cleaning fee that was charged at booking should have ensured a thorough cleaning. The kitchen floor was filthy and the trash can (under the liner) had old food in it. Third, there was a Keurig and a 4-cup drip coffee maker. This would be barely adequate for 2 people, much less sufficient for a house that allows 10 guests. I would advise the owner to at least invest in a normal-sized coffee maker. Okay, but could be better.

Upgrades needed

Pros: spacious, game room, fairly clean, sleeps 9-10, grill was efficient, hot tub was nice, contact with host was immediate Cons: pots and pans were worn out and Teflon scraped, coffee pot only makes coffee for two people (we had to make Atleast 4 pots for our group each morning), Dart board darts were broken (we had to purchase our own darts), we also purchased our own pool stick tips and left them for next guests because all tips were broken. The deck has a nice table but two of the chairs were broken. We were thankful we brought our own outdoor chairs to use so all of our guests could sit outside. Biggest issue is that Master suite upstairs has zero privacy. The loft is open to the downstairs which means you can hear everything. The bunk beds are attached to the master room without a separate door. There is only one door on the master bathroom upstairs which is a pass through. So the back side of the bathroom is open to the master suite which is an open loft. It is awkward and not private. Anyone can walk into the bathroom while it is being used…especially guests staying in bunk room. Finally, the drive to the home is steep and scary with oncoming traffic. The driveway is steep. We managed with our SUVs but it is a breathtaking journey getting in and out of the area. With some upgrades to Master suite and outdoor furniture, we would consider returning.

House ok, owner not so much

House is in good location & decent space, but poorly maintained & managed. It is outdated & cleaning is subpar. I asked if early check-in was possible & owner stated previous guests left a big mess. Despite cleaning, the 1st floor bedding was yellowed w/age & had stains, spare bedding had stains, dried food & stains were on blankets, trash left in trashcans, & food was in the oven. After leaving owner made damage claims for a blind, bunkbed, & fencing. I asked the owner for details & pics on alleged damage, to include the fence bc we didn't see a fence at the home & whether any fence damage could be from bad storm in area. In response, owner sent a pic of a pipe & accused us of having a dog, which were not part of the ins claim. We did not have a dog or any other animal w/us. Given the state of the home, I suspect that the owner is making damage claims for upgrades & his priorities are w/finding damages rather than cleaning. Highly suspicious that cleaners were able to find 3 points of alleged damage from our stay & yet missed potential damage & filth from prior guests. I first got a spidey sense about owner when I asked for confirmation of checkout time bc of a discrepancy in app. Instead of just confirming, he got confrontational and the app didn’t allow me to attach a pic. Altho I was shocked about the damage claims, looking back, the complete lack of care w/cleaning & maint, along w/ this encounter, should have tipped me off. Alerted VRBO & ins co to investigate further.

Lovely chalet, if a little dated

Kitchen had all the essentials, but the coffee machine in the listing was broken and replaced with a keurig (the property manager didn't seem to know anything about the machine being broken), there were no decent paring knives (all had bent tips and were not sharp), and the microwave plate didn't rotate. The beds were all very nice except for the full on the main level (in the yellow room) which creaked horribly when anyone sat or laid on it. It wasn't a big deal for us since we only had 4 people in our party, so we didn't need to use that bed. The game room was great fun, but the dart board had no unbroken darts (so we couldn't play with it at all) a couple of the pool cues have broken or missing tips, and the room is a bit small for a pool table (we did a lot of up-angled shots to avoid bumping the wall with the butt of the cue). The floors were a bit dirty, a few hairs in corners or on beds, but overall clean. Most of the floors have recently been redone with a vinyl plank. This was fine for the most part, the exception being on the stairs where the finish nails were poking up a bit and ruined a couple of our socks when they snagged. The hot tub was nice, but it was a smaller-than-usual size compared to what we're used to at a typical North Georgia cabin rental. Also, the motion-sensing lights on the deck were so bright they attracted so many bugs we couldn't use the hot tub at night until i covered them with extra washcloths to prevent the lights coming on.

Mountain View

Nice location on the side of a mountain. The property is very hard to find because the road sign is missing as well as the house address. The GPS took us to the end of the street saying we had arrived; however, we passed the house several times because the sign for the house is hidden behind bushes. The winding roads are hard to follow because the street signs are missing on several streets.

Nice, comfortable cabin at a good price

Nice, comfortable cabin with good privacy. Great accommodation for the price. Lenient cancellation policy was also very reassuring during the COVID pandemic. Good views from the deck of the hills across the valley with cabins; not much by way of downhill views. One day a bear was "sun tanning" on the road, then came up into the yard, sniffed around the fire pit, went to the back and tested out the locked garbage cans, then ambled off to the neighbor's yard. Plenty of room for our group of 9 adults, 2 kids, and 3 cars. Bedrooms had ample closet space and dresser drawers. I was initially worried about enough hot water supply for 3 full bathrooms, but there was no problem. Kitchen was well appointed -- range, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, pots/pans, plates, glasses, cups, cutlery, ... Pool table, foosball, and darts were a hit with the kids. Floor plan felt a little funny initially -- first floor is the main living area, but entrance is on the ground floor (which felt like a basement despite windows all around). Master bedroom (2nd floor) has a half wall looking down on the living area, so it felt a bit like a loft area. It was visually private, but sound would carry. There were some high windows at the 2nd floor level, but the blinds could not be reached from either floor, which blocked the views from the 2nd floor. Carpet in the dining area (just adjoining the kitchen area) could use some shampooing. Bathrooms have A/C inlet ducts but no exhaust fans, so we had to open the windows to keep the air flowing outwards. That was a bit tricky on the ground floor -- didn't want to step away for a little while leaving the window open. Overall, we had a great stay. Thanks. 🙂
