Summers in Wyoming and winters in Texas, we have enjoyed our beautiful Wyoming home for 27 years. We are happy to share our knowledge of the area with our guests and welcome them to our "unplugged" Wyoming life lived in the midst of God's glorious creation. We love traveling, the arts, organic gardening, and family time together.

Why they chose this property

Born in Wisconsin, Doug fell in love with the Wapiti Valley when, as a boy, he visited Yellowstone with his family. The opportunity arose for him to spend several summers during high school and college working at Wapiti Lodge, just down the highway from the ranch. During his first summer there, he wrote home and asked his dad for permission to stay through the winter and care take the property across the highway from the school. As one would expect, his dad was less than enthusiastic and wrote back that Doug needed to come home and finish school and that maybe someday, if he got a good education and good job, he could buy the place. Twenty years later, those words proved prophetic. As we drove though Wapiti on our summer vacation to Yellowstone, a "for sale by owner" sign loomed on the very property which Doug had hoped to manage. The dream was resurrected, and we have called Wyoming home each summer for the past 28 years. In 2011, we purchased the adjoining ranch on which our vacation rental properties are located from the church and a charity which had operated a children's home for a time. We had spent many happy hours on the ranch with church picnics and potlucks, church rides and rodeos, and junior camp, vacation Bible school, and youth activities, and the property held a special place in our hearts. Wapiti Valley Ranch became an extension of Doug's dream and an opportunity to share the wonder of the western experience with friends and visitors from around the country and the world.

What makes this property unique

With two six-bedroom homes, a lodge, and a cabin, this property offers the authentic Western experience. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the ranch is the perfect place to unplug and soak up the beauty of the Yellowstone region. Although the ranch is just off the main highway between Cody, WY, and the East Gate of Yellowstone, it feels secluded, peaceful, and private.

Only 30 miles from the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park, the ranch is a perfect base for exploring the greater Yellowstone region. Horseback riding, hiking, and fishing are all near by.

Cody, home to the world-famous Center of the West with its five separate museums, also has art galleries, river rafting, grocery stores, and great shopping and restaurants, and a nightly performance of the Cody Nite Rodeo, is only a twenty-five minute, scenic drive away. There are also several restaurants and a small convenience store within five miles of the ranch

While each of the buildings on the ranch are rented individually and offer privacy and seclusion, the proximity of the building also make the ranch a perfect spot for larger gatherings and family reunions. Please contact us to inquire about renting the entire ranch.
