On scenic School Section Lake the view looks right out between the island and peninsula with great northern pines and hundreds of acres of county property that leave the view spectacular. Our property has several mature trees to find the shade and plenty of open space to enjoy the sun. Two large decks provide a beautiful view with ample sitting space. A spacious ranch style home with all the amenities you will need. Patios with relaxing, comfortable cushion chairs, picnic table and umbrella. Fire pit for those special evenings. We even provide firewood! And then there is the fishing! Over 6000 Walleye have been planted.

Family Reunion great place to stay. Perfect shade for hot summer days. Great raft for the kids. Plenty of chair to accommodate everyone. Older house but many rooms to sleep in with lots of bedding and towels.

Great Lake and decent cottage

When you go, bring your own firewood and pillows! 3 of 4 bedrooms were good but 4th down in basement/ lower garage. No one in my group would sleep there. Lots of water toys but pontoon runs really rough, kayaks have no plugs so be prepared to empty multiple times as waves and water fill them up.
Be ready to clean the boats yourself

Nice family vacation

We enjoyed the house and lake. The house seemed cleaner than last year and it was great that the cupboards were cleaned out so we could put stuff away. We missed the paddle board that was there last year. We really had fun on the paddle boat, floating dock and the kayaks.

Girlfriend’s getaway. Brought the kids, left the husbands at home. House was everything we needed and more. Spent the days enjoying the kayaks, paddle boat, floating raft, and docks for fishing. The weekend flew by, but we were so happy to have found this place on the lake.

grandma & grandpas lakehouse

It’s like staying at g’ma & g’pa lake house. Everything and anything you could need or want is at your fingertips. We all enjoyed the lake & pontoon. The kids enjoyed the paddle boat, kayaks and the swim platform. My husband and I enjoyed the sun room during every part of the day. Thank you for the enjoyable stay.

Autumn Trip

The property was nice and quiet. The access to kayaks and paddle boat a fireplace and fire pit, with firewood provided was all important components to an enjoyable weekend. The only thing I would have wanted to know ahead of time was that that the basement bed is only accessible via narrow & steep stairwell. Thankfully, there were alternative bed options.

Upkeep needs attention. The dishes , pots & pans needed to be washed before being used. The thermostat is not user friendly and theres no instructions. You probably want to write down the network name with the password. Theres air trapped in the pipes. When we turned on the water in the kitchen it would burst out of the faucet. We would hear gurgling sounds when flushing the toilet as well - trapped air Location was great to get to Wheatland. The porch and views were also wonderful

Great for golfers

This is a great setting with plenty of outdoor space on the beatiful lake. The home has a lot of potential. However, it's greatly outdated, the one bathroom is very small and we ran out of toilet paper on the morning of departure. The pictures and description presented on the online listing were a little deceiving. We still had a great time. Thanks for having us.

Stayed a few times, love the lake and property. Had an issue with this most recent stay and had to leave early, but the Host was quick to respond and was helpful. VRBO has been awful to work with, we have been waiting for a refund for over a month. They agreed to issue the refund a month ago, just been waiting for them to actually do it. This may be my last time using VRBO, but this has nothing to do with the Host. This property is wonderful and will serve your family well, and I would consider renting this property again if VRBO got their stuff together.

Great Space to Relax with Family

We enjoyed our stay. The house had great AC and WiFi- which was important respectively to the old and teens of our group. The shallow part of the lake in front of the cabin was actually sandy - so important to me and my youngest and hard to find when renting on a lake. The fishing wasn't great, but we were there the week of the fourth and boat traffic was constant, so I think the fish were hiding. But the lake has a no wake period in the morning and evenings which was really nice. Everything we needed was there in the bathrooms, kitchen, life jackets, kayaks, lawn chairs, bedding and board games. But there was not wood on site for fires or beach towels- so bring those! We had a very nice time, I hope this review helps those looking for a place to call home for a week. I recommend taking a full week! It'll be worth it!

Our Family is from Lansing and Grand Rapids, MI. We love Michigan. Summer time at the lake has given us our best memories. We are so excited to have our kids and Grandkids spend time with us to provide them with the special memories they will have.

Why they chose this property

We have also been renters for many years. In 2003 we rented on School Section Lake and it became one of our favorite lake's in Michigan. When we realized this year we could finally get our lakefront property this is the ONLY lake we looked at. We love it that much. In 2013, we purchased the neighboring cottage and have loved it ever since. In 2018 we purchased this property as well because we love the incredible view. We are directly across from the gorgeous colorful island and penninsula with nothing but mature trees. And beyond that you see the hundreds of acres of county land that is free of cabins and left as nature intended it to be. We also realized quickly this is a home. It is beautiful and fully equipped with everything you need. You only need to bring your clothes, food and drink and plan on having everything else already here. The lake is special. It is well maintained by the Association for weed control, the clearest water around and this incredible 'up north feel'. It has character with the island, peninsulas and amazing mature pines. There is a county park on the lake that has an amazing swimming area and walking trails. However this is still a semi-private lake. The lake only allows boats with motors less than 10hp. We as property owners can have as we please. And this courtesy is extended to you if you choose to bring a boat or Jet Ski.

What makes this property unique

We don't want your experience to stop at the end of the dock. We have kayak's, paddle boat and swim platform. You can also bring your own boat or rent a pontoon if desired.The semi-private lake keeps boat traffic down. The morning, late evening no-wake's and all sports during the day it the perfect balance of peaceful cruising, fishing and the fun of an all-sports lake when you just want to get out and enjoy the water and the sun.
