As I do for all guests, is ask everyday If everything is ok? or if there is any concerns. I did ask these guests everyday if everything was OK. They always responded everything is fine. My husband also checked with them daily or when we saw them. Again, everyday the same. Not once did any issues come up until 3 days after they were gone. Never saw anything "Airing out" there was no mention of anything. The closet had a laundry basket it in with 1 set of clean sheets in it just didn't fold them. Maybe a few rags. As it states in house description, that this is also our home when we don't rent it, so some hanging clothes were pushed to the side and had plenty of room. After 75 rentals not once has cigarette smell come up as an issue. I smoke outside, and maybe some of our guests do also. but previous owners did smoke 16 years ago. Not until Patty saw a pack of cigarettes in the garage when they were leaving did the issue come up 3 days later. If they would have said something right away, I would have refunded there money and even help them reload their car and they could be on their merry way somewhere else. So basically they lied everyday while they were here. People before them, not a word, people after not a word. So far all 5 star reviews without a word about cigarette smell. I guess seeing that lone pack of cigarettes in the garage freaked Patty out. If this would have been a recurring issue with our guests for the past 5 years then I can understand where she is coming from.
