About this property

19C Provencal stone house with private Pool, 10 minutes from Uzes!

Located 10 minutes from the bustling, Medieval town of Uzes, my property offers the best of both worlds: Town and Country!

THE COUNTRY
My 19th C property is a French country oasis, where you and your family can enjoy local food and wines, family games, swimming and sunbathing by the pool in privacy. Sample french cuisine and exceptional wine from local vineyards at the Village cafe (breakfast, lunch or dinner) or on the rear terrace, with seating up to 8 and a family-sized, stone BBQ. The alarmed, private pool, 10’ x 16’, is unique for the region with a shallow end of 3’ sloping down to 6’. Pool and s lighting insure that activities can extend from day well into the night. Grassy 'play ground’ is designed for badminton, croquet, boules, or other provided family games, and there is a village tennis court within walking distance! You can choose to hike up ancient village paths for spectacular views or explore enchanting neighboring villages on bike or horseback. Or just relax, reading by the pool surrounded with fragrant flowers and woodland hills.

My property was restored by an international designer, combining both antique and modern touches to create a holiday home with both modern comfort and french country charm. Original wood beams and floors have been restored; marble travertine tiles add elegance to the ground floor; and traditional stone walls have been renovated. The kitchen is equipped with new Bosch stainless appliances, coffee maker, toaster and every cooking convenience incorporated into a classic French tiled worktop. The bathrooms have sinks on antique chests and zinc tables as well as ceramic baths with contemporary American ‘pressure’ showers. The master bedroom has traditional pine armoires and cupboards, plus side tables featuring antique stone pillars. The twin bed guest room has mahogany beams and original wood floors. A top floor bedroom and en suite bath feature a rustic metal double bed and a built-in closet with a 19th C french door.
A magical oasis for you and your family to enjoy a French country holiday.

THE TOWN
The picturesque 12th century town of Uzes offers culture, shopping, and cuisine to rival any in France. Resembling a mini-Paris, where plane tree-lined streets lead to an antique fountain in the central square. Roads and walking streets are dotted with sophisticated boutiques and outdoor cafes, where locals can be found sipping morning coffee through evening aperitifs! Uzes has many diverse activities for your whole family:
• 100+ restaurants and cafes offering French and international cuisines
• Golf, horseback riding, cycling, even running with the Bulls
• For children, there’s the famous Haribo Candy Museum as well as the
popular La Bouscarasse Water Park, that’s fun for your entire family
• Jazz, classical and rock concerts
• Shopping for sophisticated French clothing, home decor, ceramics, and
antiques
• Weekend markets for wine tastings from local vineyards, theatre and comedy festivals
• The famous UZES MARKET every Saturday, with everything from fresh produce, prize winning foods and cheeses to colorful ceramics and clothes with a french flair. The perfect experience for the shopper in all of us!

Each family is provided with their own guide book, a map of Uzes, and a guide to local restaurants. There are also 100+ brochures for everything that could be of interest in the area, to name a few:
• A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Roman Pont du Gard
• Avignon, home of the Catholic Popes from 1309-1376, with Palace museum,
cathedral, and exquisite gardens
• Mediterranean beach clubs for a day of swimming and lunch at the beach;
• Chateaux for tasting superb wines in Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel,
among many renowned local vineyards
• National Equestrian Stables with horse show events and group riding tours
• Picturesque Provencal towns and villages, such as Gordes, St. Remy, and
Les Baux to enjoy the best this Provençal region has to offer
WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY A MEMORABLE FRENCH HOLIDAY

Was advertised with air conditioning and only had fans

The property was advertised with air conditioning, and only came with fans and a small 8 inch artic air from amazon that the owner said is considered an air conditioner. We would Not have booked this house if we knew it did not come with Air Conditioning. We were stuck in the house for 13 nights and some days were 106 degrees. VRBO did not help as well. The owner refunded us 2 nights for the inconvenience, not enough we should of been given a full refund to relocate. She now advertises that the house does not have air-conditioning. The house and pool are lovely and the area is beautiful.

AVOID

We booked this property for two weeks, but left after less than one. On arrival, the property was filthy (mouldy pots in the dishwasher and cupboards, dirty mugs just put back in cupboards, the bedding and bathmats hadn't been changed and the undersheet looked like it had never been washed). The 'fully equipped' kitchen had one small, blunt knife, there was a smashed wine glass left on the floor of the sitting room and we washed our feet to put shoes and socks on, the floors were so filthy. The garden consists of mud, weeds and unkempt and dying vegetation. It is very far from big enough to play badminton or croquet in - even if it were level! The pool is unheated and rarely sees the sunshine. We reported all this to the owner, who took three days to respond and then did nothing about cleaning, replacing the kettle or the iron, which was so covered in filth you couldn't use it. She promised a full refund on week 2 and a partial refund on week 1, but that was a lie, as well: she finally offered US$1,000, which is a very long way from what we paid - her claim being that VRBO take all the rest of it in fees... We have had to lodge a dispute with VRBO to attempt to get a refund as promised. It lacks basics, like the VMC ventilation system in bathrooms that is a legal requirement in France. I cannot recommend you swerve this place (and the owner) highly enough.

Karakteristiek huis, comfortabel verblijf

Wonderful stay in a relaxing home

Great stay, with a pool that kept the kids entertained and close to everything you want, whilst still feeling like being away from everything

Beautiful and secluded

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carol's gorgeous house. It had everything we needed and it felt very much a home that had been made with love. It is a little further than 10 minutes from Uzes, but we still managed to go there most days to stock up on wonderful produce and wines. Thank you Carol, we had a great week! x

My Perfect southern France Experience!

Staying in this house in Uzes, Provence was a fulfilled dream for me. The house itself is a beautifully, and authentically, restored French old stone manor house, but with modern amenities in the kitchen and baths. The décor is chic and lovely but very comfortable as well. You feel you are truly in a French home, when you are sitting in the dining room, gazing out a lovely front garden. And then to add to it, in the rear, there is a large pool for doing laps and a private terrace for b-b-q and dining. When I did leave the house, I found the village of Uzes not only to be quaint but one with incredible shops and restaurants. I returned several times and still did not get to all of them. Sitting on its' beautiful central square, sipping coffee or wine made the village irresistible too, not to mention the smell of French bread baking and patisseries displayed in bakery windows (my downfall.) Travelling around the countryside, the views of Provence are stunning: vineyards dotting the landscape, magnificent villages on the peaks (Gordes) or hanging from the sides of hills (Rousillon), the Mediterranean beaches are just 45 minutes away, and many of the village shops have high quality items at a much lower price than in the states … in other words, anything your heart desires in this part of the world. This is a dream location and my experience fulfilled my every wish for a stay in southern France. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Delightful newly renovated house on outskirts of Uzes. Nicely decorated with all amenities. Glorious pool and small garden. Strongly recommend

A fabulous place with a wonderful location

A great house with a beautiful, colorful and serene garden. The decor is lovely and every appliance is state of the art. The pool is gorgeous and a terrific addition to the overall pleasure of our stay. The location is terrific! Uzes is a wonderful gem of a city and the Mediterranean and Provence are each less than an hour away. We couldn’t have been happier to be in this charming house in such a wonderful location. With so much to see and do.

Beautiful old house with lovely garden

The old stone house, full of character and history, has been perfectly and newly restored, and all the rooms are beautifully furnished. The garden is in two parts - at the front of the house there are many trees, and at the back of the house there's a pool and deckchairs. From the house (which is in a quiet, tiny village) it's an easy drive to the nearby medieval town of Uzes, full of great restaurants and stylish shops - so much to do and see in the town (there's even a cinema, and a world-famous candy museum!) and in the countryside where there's so much to discover. We specially appreciated that the owner provided a detailed list of everything in the region.

Fabulous home with incredible location

I loved this bright, cheery and well appointed home. The pool was a great bonus and the location superb. We took full advantage of all there is to do in the area...great shopping, wonderful restaurants in both Uzes and surrounding areas, surprisingly close to the Mediterranean - which I had never experienced. So much to explore, including villages in Provence. The weather was spring-like ... sunny and warm ... with never a rainy day. I must have left something out but suffice it to say, I plan to come back and recommend this rental, Uzes and the surrounding areas unconditionally. C’est magnifique!
