About this property

Holiday cozy country cottage!

Located in the beautiful Hudson Valley offering hiking in the Harriman State Park, Bear Mtn, Muscoot farm (great for little kids), horseback riding as well as local incredible spots; Croton Gorge Dam, Croton Point Park, Croton Landing, Tea Town Lake Reservation, Jane Arboretum and a fantastic Swimming Hole/beach all within minutes. Experience farm-to-table dining in The Hudson Valley. And, in a 46min ride along the Hudson River, you can be enjoying the endless supply of cultural events museums and restaurants to explore in NYC. Easy access to the house from the main road (9A) and only 6 min to Metro North Train. Tired? Alternate with a rest when you come back to your "country getaway". The house offers one very large Master with king size bed. Two smaller rooms each with a twin bed. The sofa in the living room has often accommodated two guests (really good friends) or one adult comfortably. The kitchen is a state of the art with gas stove and contains all the cutlery and condiments you might need. (Grocery store is a 5 min drive). The property is near a main road however, any sound inside the house is snuffed by a beautiful enclosed glass porch. Parking for 4-5 cars with ease (and up to 7 cars with a little diagonal planning in front). A bit of history comes with this house - the tale of the Devil's Footprint and so far no one has been able to find it. Contact us for information and clues about where it might be. As well, If you have kids that you'd like to put in camp - so you can laze around and have long brunches - there are many options which I am happy to recommend (Hudson Sailing School, Sprout day camp, Croton Theatre Arts Camp, etc.).

Close getaway from the city
We spent a few night in this home with our 2 kids and had a wonderful time. The home decor was gorgeous and our family made some memories with the piano and bongos and record player. The hosts were super nice and helpful. Just note that there is only one mattress per room so don’t plan to put anyone on a trundle bed.

It's the little things that make a difference
What can I say? This was an absolutely perfect home. Geraldine and Israel went over and above to make sure our stay was nothing short of perfect, down to the personal details. One of our favorite VRBO stays!

Cozy and updated
Had a great weekend at the cottage with some friends. The house was very comfortable, spacious bedrooms, and nice open living room with cozy fireplace. We spent most of the time gathered around the counter/table in the beautiful updated kitchen. Easy to get in and out with ample parking for several cars. Would have liked to see window shades in the bedrooms both for privacy and for keeping the light out in the morning!

I grew up in NYC and studied art most of my life. I own a part time photo business called Frolic Photos. I also have recently begun selling homes here in Westchester. I feel a little like a secret agent.

Why they chose this property

I went to school at Bard College. After a met my husband and we had two small children we felt the grind of NYC and are so thrilled to move back to the Hudson Valley. We couldn't be happier with the location and to have this beautiful old stone house that we really enjoy slowly renovating.

What makes this property unique

When we were house hunting we didn't see anything that we could imagine living in. When we saw this one with its imploring stones, and solid bones, rock wall and beautiful porch with 100 panes of really grabbed me oddly enough was the room beyond the master bedroom. There was a ton of work to be done. We actually moved the tiny kitchen and swapped it with the huge dining room and now we are always in up, talking, cooking, and food.
