Well, you are certainly welcome at any time. Thanks for staying with us. I look forward to your return. This summer you can look down on the river from the coolness of the deck when elsewhere folks are battling the heat.

This property was PERFECT for my families’ Christmas getaway. Location of the house in Ruidoso is ideal - very close to restaurants and shops and a short drive to the local winter park and Lincoln National Forest. The host was incredible - very quick to respond to questions prior to our stay and attentive to any issues/questions we had during the stay (even on Christmas!)
I would HIGHLY recommend this property!

You are wonderful guests and it was fun to help make your Christmas memorable. I’m so happy you opted to cut your own Christmas tree from the forest. That’s a special memory that makes a Ruidoso Christmas stand out from any other. You are most welcome next Christmas, or at any time of the year!
Great house! Would come back without a doubt.
Close to town, impeccably furnished and very well stocked. You can tell the owners take great care of this home.

Thank you for your kind words. We do our best to maintain the cabin as close to perfect as possible. There’s nothing more important to us than to make our guests feel welcome in a relaxing environment. You are welcome at any time, and I look forward to your return.

We have been traveling to Ruidoso the past 17 years for family trips. We have been blessed to stay in some good properties but this home is incredible. It is evident that the owners did not hold back when updating this property. Excellent location close to downtown but still have the Upper Canyon feel. We will rent this property on future trips!!

I’m so glad you appreciated the effort put into the remodel. It was a big challenge, but we are quite proud of the final outcome. We continue to add improvements each year such as the custom bunk beds finished out with a tree cut on the property.
You are spot on about the location and the Upper Canyon feel. Our first cabin is a 1-bedroom in the Upper Canyon which also looks down on the river. When we spotted this hidden gem that needed a big dose of attention, we had the same feeling of peaceful relaxation. We couldn’t wait to bring it back to life and enjoy it.
We are happy you found it and were able to enjoy it as well.

Beautifully restored home! Fantastic kitchen, screened porch and outdoor deck were our favorites and all living spaces super comfortable. Fully stocked with supplies and the owner was lovely. Close to shopping, grocery store, short drive to Ski Apache. Definitely recommend!

Thank you for staying with us. I hope to see you back soon!
Charming historic renovation with the modern amenities that matter most….plenty of bathrooms and all renovated so cleverly to keep with historic feel, modern kitchen with chef-worthy range & oven, and a screen porch made for sipping coffee! Beds were sooooo comfy! We played all day at the racetrack and scoot a boot at the Win Place Show, Ruidoso’s most iconic bar. All the fun of downtown and Cree Meadows golf course is just a short stroll away. We all loved the house and hope to return!

Very nice
The outside surrounding the house could use some cleaning up. Pine
Needles and steps were in need of maintenance. Overall the house was nice

Thank you. Prior to your arrival, Ruidoso had just experienced high winds which resulted in showers of pine needles. We maintain the grounds regularly, but can’t control the effects of storms in between cleanings. The crew came three days before your arrival. We would have gladly sent them to clear the grounds again had you mentioned it. Since you did not respond to any of my messages, I assumed that all was well. I wish I had known so your stay could have been perfect. I want every guest to have great memories to take home with them.
Cathi
Perfect downtown location. Owner Cathy very hospitable. The inside was not very clean and carpets very dusty! TV screen very dirty! Not owners fault in my opinion but the cleaning crew hired to clean before our stay!

Rosie, the homeowner would like to share the following message:
"We are so sorry that there was dust in the cabin for your stay. We employ a national firm that is highly respected, and who consistently cleans the cabin thoroughly. Unfortunately, before your stay, we had the furnace system cleaned and perhaps that process blew dust into the air. In hindsight, we should have sent the Merry Maids team back to the house to check for dust after the furnace cleaning crew left. Again, we apologize for dropping the ball."
Best, the Evolve Team
This is the second time we have stayed here. Don’t hesitate to book this cabin. We love that is has a big screened in front porch. When we were there, it rained everyday. It was nice to sit in the screened in area and watch the storm. It is also nice to be able to sit and watch our kids play while we get to enjoy the fans.
It is in a great location. The owner is really easy to communicate with and responds quickly.
I would gladly stay here a third time.

Thank you. We love having you…come often!
I agree about enjoying the storms on the porch…there is something special about hearing the deep thunder moving through the mountains…it’s nothing like we experience at home. The porch seems to suit all seasons, but especially the mild summer months during monsoon season. It’s also fun to have a protected place to watch the snow fall. The cabin has a place for everything.
Thank you for choosing Cabin in the Sky and for being a return customer. I look forward to your next visit.

Cabin in the Sky is a great place to stay! The pictures and description of this cabin are completely accurate. It is clean, well stocked, very comfortable and close to town. My husband, two adult daughters (early 20s) and I stayed in this cabin for three weeks and we enjoyed every minute! Two of us worked remotely from the cabin with no issues at all, as the wi-fi is excellent and there is plenty of room to spread out. Cathi, the host, is organized and easy to work with. We highly recommend staying at Cabin in the Sky!

Paige,
Thank you for your wonderful review. I am so happy your stay at the cabin was enjoyable. That’s our goal—to have our guests enjoy Cabin in the Sky as much as we do. Long stays like you enjoyed are the best!!
Please come back soon. I look forward to your next visit.

This was our second time staying at the Cabin in the Sky — we came back because we loved it!! It’s an easy walk to town, and an easy drive to so many cool places. The home is spacious and has a hot tub. We played (waterproof!) cards in the hot tub most mornings! The home owner is very personable and responds rapidly to messages. We feel lucky to have escaped the August Texas heat, at this fantastic cabin. Our kids are 5&8 and they loved the bunk room. We will be back!!

This great location puts you amongst the trees and near the river, yet so close to the shops and restaurants. Our dogs loved it, our kids loved it, we loved it! The kitchen- everything you need and more. I really felt at home and hope to return. We often stay in VRBO's and trust the ratings... this one is truly set up to make every guest happy and to make life easy... more than 5 stars!
Sincere thanks to Cathi. What was already the perfect rental became even more exceptional thanks to her.

We really enjoyed our stay in this charming cabin. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck and in the hot tub gazing out at the pine trees, which was so relaxing. We biked and walked into town several times and loved how close it was even though we felt a world away while on that deck. We also biked to Grindstone Lake which was just a couple miles away, and the color of the water was breathtaking. It was fun seeing deer and elk from the deck and around the neighborhood frequently. Cathi was so wonderful to help us with all of our questions.

Well, you were wonderful guests and I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay. Ruidoso is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors, and the cabin is the perfect place to come home to. Thanks for pointing out how great the location is. That's an important aspect of choosing a rental. The deck is amazing and a great place to ponder the day's activities. Come back soon. I look forward to your return visit.
About the host
Hosted by Cathi Chambers
We are Ron and Cathi Chambers. Cathi was born in New Mexico and her heart never left, so owning a cabin in the ‘Land of Enchantment’ comes full circle. Our search for a mountain home spanned four states from North Carolina to New Mexico and ended with our trip to Ruidoso. The heavily treed mountains and cool mountain air, the rivers and lakes, the quaint town with nearby places of interest hit all of our “must haves” and more.
Why they chose this property
Our first cabin is a cozy 1 bedroom in the Upper Canyon with great rental history and reviews (vrbo.com/1941830), so we were encouraged to add another offering to the market. This ‘new’ cabin has plenty of room for family and friends while still offering the sights and sounds of the Ruidoso River. It has the added attraction of being within walking distance of both the Cree Meadows Golf Course and Midtown shopping and restaurants.
What makes this property unique
Before this cabin was ready to enjoy, it needed much attention, so we jumped in eagerly to remodel. The kitchen is all new, as is the electrical, plumbing, gas logs, laundry room, bathrooms, hot tub, decking, and energy efficient windows. The original charm of the 1930’s cabin remains with warm wood trim throughout and nature right at the doorstep. The original Great Room was wonderful, so we carefully preserved the space. The vented room-warming fireplace is original as is the beautifully preserved pine walls and log ceiling beams. It’s a great package with proximity to golf and conveniences while having privacy and rich forest views. Both properties share the same attention to detail that our guests appreciate. Quality bed and bath linens, a well-stocked kitchen, high end appliances, comfortable furniture, and tasteful décor are standard. These are the things that we appreciate when we travel. If you need to jot something down, there’s a memo pad. If you need to charge your electronics, there are dual USB ports. If you enjoy wine, beer, or cocktails, there is appropriate glassware and bottle openers. If you need to freshen up, there are bath gels for both men and women. We want your stay to be memorable and want you to come back often. We sincerely hope you choose to stay here. We will love having you as our guests.
