Nestled in the picturesque valley of Little Cove in south central PA

The 1948 square foot, three bedroom, 2 bath home has an open floor plan design with a loft over looking a fully furnished kitchen, dining and family room.

The home is surrounded by state game lands with hiking trails, springs, beautiful wildlife and awesome mountain views. The home has beautiful gardens to enjoy from the screened in porch, back deck or front porch. Feel free to build a campfire in the backyard fire ring, or grill steaks over a propane grill. Enjoy one of our many board games in the living room or listen to crickets and frogs while you sip iced tea from the furnished front porch. No laundry worries as fresh towels and linens are provided and the home away from home has a laundry closet with washer/dryer, ironing board, iron and other extras. The home sits on 100-acres of ground composed of a diverse mix of mature mountain hardwood forest, open fields, hiking trails, horses, and mountain springs. The home is one mile back a gravel road in Little Cove off of PA State Route 456 providing a very private and tranquil experience and yet convenient access north to PA Route 16 (10 miles) and south to MD Interstate 70 (7 miles).

The Hoot Owl Inn is an exceptional property. We had a fantastic experience. The owner was extremely responsive but we required little help because everything was perfect. Plan on staying here again especially for future ski trips to Whitetail

Cozy, warm winter stay

Cozy home with lots of warm touches. Our family loved the game cabinet and our kids loved the "goldilocks" beds in the loft. The property is very serene. A little far from Whitetail (30 min) but a very cozy place to return to after a day on the slopes!

Beautiful home and property - WOW

We absolutely loved this home and property. The owners thought of everything and we had the perfect long weekend together before the grandkids head back to school. The front and back porch and the waterfall were so relaxing. Plenty of room for all of us and a short and very scenic drive to Cowans Gap State Park. We loved seeing all of the deer, the cows, the rooster, the turtle, the cat, the horses, and hummingbirds....what a wonderful and memorable family vacation! So glad this home is available as a rental!

Awesome property

This is an absolutely beautiful property. And suit our needs perfectly. We plan to come back again either later this year or next. The beds are super comfortable and we all slept well. The living room had space to sit all comfortable seating. The screened in porch was fantastic. Hearing the water in the fountain was very relaxing. Bring it was july we could only sit out here in morning and night. They have a well stocked kitchen everything you would need to cook meals. Because we did. There wasn’t one think that I needed that I didn’t find. They have a phone you can hook up to calL out, I couldn’t receive phone calls on my IPhone. But Facebook and texting worked. Great place to relax !! We had a great time.

I can't say enough good things about this rental. From the communication with Julie to the property itself, this spot is a gem. The house is delightful, the grounds are gorgeous, and I guarantee all the stresses of day to day life will vanish as soon as you check in. The birds sang all day, the frogs and toads serenaded us nonstop, and the cheery splash of the waterfall was perfection. Every space in the house is welcoming and comfortable, from the kitchen to the living room, to the porch, to the patio, to the surrounding grounds themselves. Just heavenly. The only thing I'd note (and it was really a plus, not a minus) is that there's practically no cell phone coverage, so plan ahead for using their internet to stay in touch, rather than your cellular connection. We had to restart the router once, but other than that, email and messaging worked just fine. On the whole, we loved the feeling of seclusion and tranquility.

Little Cove stay

In two words-absolutely wonderful. Needed a quiet place for a few days of rest. With the exception of a few walks “down the road”, we never left the property. Enjoyed the front porch, screened in back porch, the fireplace and feeding the horses. Met the owner and she shared the history of the home. Thank you for opening it for complete strangers to enjoy. Don’t know if our life circumstances will allow us another visit, but we certainly hope so!

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay, the pictures on the website are exactly what this beautiful home displayed, the home was emaculant and very comfortable, and really made you feel at home. The host provided all of the necessities that the guest may need and we really appreciate the host' thoughtfulness, so thank you. The scenery and peaceful setting of the home makes it very hard to leave after your stay, we really enjoyed this home and will definitely return for another stay, if anyone is looking for a getaway away from everything, you should definitely come stay at this home. The horses right outside the door made your stay even more enjoyable as the view of the horses, mountains and the overall secluded and beautiful area made you feel as though you were away from everything, soo peaceful. A place to restore oneself

If your looking for a place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, this is it. It did not come together as we had hoped because of family medical problems but our son and granddaughter joined us for 3 days. We loved watching him get to unwind and I forgot what it was like getting up in the middle of the night with a baby but it was oh so wonderful. Our son gave the golf course mentioned two thumbs up. So so many hummingbirds. And Julie was very responsive to any questions we had. Thank you Julie.

Lovely & quiet spot for a weekend escape

Loved the quiet farmstead tucked back a long lane and surrounded by mature trees and beautiful landscaping. Julie was on top of things and communicated proactively. It was the perfect spot for a girls' weekend away and we are already discussing planning a return trip!

Beautiful house inside and out!

This was our second time renting Hoot Owl Hill. My elderly mother gets the Master bdrm with her own private bath. House has everything you need. Just bring your food and you won't want to leave. Julie and Darin are wonderful host.

Perfect timing for a Winter wonderland!!

For me, this was perfect timing! We rented the house so my son could go skiing and I just wanted a place to relax. I missed the two snow storms this year so I was so excited when it snowed prior to our visit! The front porch is a great place the sit and enjoy the afternoon sun. Plenty of wood for the fire pit. Wonderful fireplace. Well stocked with cooking utensils. Very clean! Would definitely visit again especially in the fall. My favorite part was the friendly cat!

Wonderful Valentine's Day

My husband and I celebrated the 30th anniversary of our first date on Valentine's day. Every year we go someplace and this year I decided to stay at this property not only to celebrate but to see if this could be a possible vacation destination. We were greeted by one of the barn cats as we pulled up. I was wowed when we walked in the door. The place is so tastefully decorated and clean. There was a bottle of celebratory wine on the kitchen counter in honor of our anniversary (thank you Julie). After unpacking we turned on the fireplace and sat for awhile. This place is so comfortable and cozy. We never got back in time from our dinner to see the sunset but the sunrises were amazing. Julie was also very quick to respond to my questions while there. Long story short, I did book the property for our vacation in August. We look forward to coming back.

Christmas Cabin

My family and I stayed at Hoot Owl Hill during the Christmas week. My two small children re- named it their "Christmas Cabin". We couldn't have asked for anything better. The house is simply BEAUTIFUL. The hosts were wonderful and they have everything you need upon arrival. My children cried when it was time to leave but i reassured them both, we would definitely return. If you are looking to stay in this area please check this place out. The house, the farm, the horses, the views, everything about this place is wonderful. Thank you Julie and Darin for making our Christmas a Special one!

Girls Trip 2021

We stayed at Hoot Owl Hill for our annual girls trip. Our group of five found plenty of comfortable places to sit and relax whether on the front porch, screened in porch, or by the fire. The kitchen was well stocked, and had everything we needed to prepare our meals. We truly enjoyed our stay in this immaculate and beautifully decorated home. We definitely plan to return.

Perfect family get away.

Clean, beautifully decorated home, perfect for entire family. Outside area charming and quiet. We held a Thanksgiving dinner there and the kitchen was very spacious. Appliances worked well. Will be back again!

Awesome weekend getaway!

My wife and I had a wonderful weekend stay for our anniversary. We were looking for something a bit secluded, but still comfortable to escape the craziness of work. This property had it all. The owners had everything ready for our arrival and the home was spotless! Communication was excellent and their recommendations for places to eat were very good. We are at Stoners on the square, one of the owners favorites and enjoyed the food very much. We took advantage of the many board games, but enjoyed playing Boggle the most. We even saw a few pheasants on the property! Watching the horses in the field was pretty cool while drinking coffee or taking walks in the morning. We highly recommend this home and hope to come back again soon. Thank you! Jeremy and Courtney
