About this property

Cowboy guest house on the farm -bring your dog ! Work from here.

Enjoy a little Georgia country Nirvana far from the city in spirit only. This is a one bedroom guest cabin on our farm. It is perfect for a weekend getaway or a longer work stay.
Originally built as a bunkhouse for the attached barn, our guest quarters are a complete apartment with a full sized kitchen equipped with everything you might need for daily cooking. The internet is 200 MGs and very fast. Our place sleeps 2-4 people with a queen bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. A TV is set up with Roku TV, a DVD player, and an HDMI cable if you want to hook up a laptop and watch your own favorite channels. Central air and heat keep the place comfortable with extra help from ceiling fans and a beautiful electric fireplace.

Our farm is 31 acres near the Chickamauga Battlefield. We are 20 minutes to Chattanooga and 30 minutes from Cloudland Canyon and Lookout Mountain attractions. Bring a kayak or canoe--there is a launch into the West Chick Creek just a mile down the road. Bring your bike and enjoy safely riding through the Battlefield. Come back from your adventures and relax with a walk through the pastures or on the trails through our woods. Set up an easel out there for a day of plein air painting.
We live on the property in a 145 year old farmhouse that sits across the yard. We like to greet guests when they arrive but are happy to interact as much or as little as guests prefer.

We are dog friendly but do charge a pet fee. Please include that in your booking if you are traveling with your best friend. Our main dog, Rocco, is a big boxer/mastiff mix and is super friendly. Our auxiliary dog, Dakota, is a boxer girl who will bark at strangers so we keep an eye on her around guests. We have a kennel/crate in the guesthouse if you need it.

We have our own family of friendly pasture pets behind the barn--goats, very free range chickens, and donkeys. Pats and supervised cuddles are encouraged! Our cats, Ricky and Lucy, are very friendly, too. We have seen plenty of deer here and there is a big heron that fishes at the pond. The frogs are everywhere and will sing you to sleep at night.

Be aware that we keep chickens and have some roosters. Roosters crow all day, FYI. And, this is important, our birds are very free ranging and some live in the yard with our dogs. We always ask guests to keep their dogs leashed when arriving until we can see how they react to chickens. There are lots of other places around the property to run off leash if being in the yard with chickens is too much for your dog.
Please be assured that we follow HomeAway's guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting our guesthouse.
Please note: we have expanded our vacation rental with the addition of our vintage camper set up behind the garage and guesthouse. Camper guests have their own area separate from the main guesthouse but some areas such as the parking area, pond, barn, and pastures are shared. All guests are asked to abide by our quiet hours. Camper guests are allowed to bring their dog.

We have a 2 night minimum and offer a discounted rate for longer stays. We do not rent out the upper level if guests are booking through this downstairs listing. We live in the 145 year old farmhouse across the yard and are around most of the time. Visit us on Instagram @littlefrogadventures and Facebook : SydneyLand Farm

Most relaxing and refreshing overnight stay!
Loved meeting Mike, Sydney and Rocco and staying overnight in the bunkhouse on the farm. Mike and Sydney were very warm and welcoming! Rocco, the dog, was very friendly. The bunkhouse was cozy and bed was extremely comfortable. We enjoying sitting by the fire and visiting with the donkeys, goats, and chickens. We even had fresh eggs for breakfast! It was only an overnight stay. Wish it was available on our trip back through.

Perfect, Quiet Getaway
What a dream this property was! The Bunkhouse had everything we could possibly need for our stay as well as some very sweet touches like farm fresh eggs left out for us to use. We loved the coziness of the Bunkhouse and having the freedom to wander their property. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

Mike and I moved to Chickamauga from Atlanta and love it up here. We work from home and live in the 145 year old house on the other side of the yard. We met playing music and are always happy to jam with friends and guests. Our dog Rocco has proven to be an exceptional host to other dogs.

Why they chose this property

My great Grandfather was wounded in the Battle of Chickamauga and there was a family farm just south so this place means a lot to me. Our property was one of many used as a hospital during the battle. We don't know what happened to the original house but the one we have now was built in 1875 as a wedding gift for a local daughter. The Bunkhouse was built in 2002--it is a bit more modern!-- and is attached to a horse barn. Walking the pastures is a real delight as the light is special here in the country.

What makes this property unique

There is always a breeze here and it is so pleasant to sit out and look at the mountains in the distance. Everything about this place spoke to us. We have not stopped hosting family and friends from the city--it is a sanctuary for them! The Bunkhouse is unique and comfortable and can be a great retreat space for writing or drawing or contemplation time.
