…some of the many reasons we fell in love with this location.

If you are looking to stay in Halls Harbour, then you are likely already familiar with this captivating destination. If you have happened upon our listing, a Google search will show you an area often highlighted by Nova Scotia Tourism, and revered by residents. The wharf hosts a Lobster Pound Restaurant, and the highest tides in the world, where twice a day the lobster boats fall to rest on the ocean floor. It’s picturesque Nova Scotia.

Our 3 bedroom home underwent full renovations in 2018, and brings modern conveniences in a traditional coastal setting. The house features updated decor with laundry, dishwasher, Wifi, Bluetooth speakers, and comfortable beds and bedding.

Most tourists first venture to Canada’s Maritime provinces on a more general survey vacation, vowing to return and stay in one location for that authentic local experience. If that sounds like you, let us assure you this is the ideal location. The Hideaway at Halls Harbour boasts proximity to a range of experiences, geographical settings, and amenities, all set on a working lobster wharf. You will exhaust your time here before you exhaust things to explore.

THE HOME
This 3 bedroom, year-round home, is situated on a waterfront road, on the inside of the road (“one-back”), giving exceptional sunsets out over the water visible from the house and from the beach out front. The small roadway houses cottages and year-round homes.

This traditional house was fully renovated in 2018, enhancing the original features such as hand hewn ceiling beams, original wooden floor boards (complete with square nails), and decor selected to blend modern conveniences with that traditional Nova Scotia feel.

The house experiences beautiful ocean breezes, which make for comfortable temperatures during summer heat, requiring no AC. Proximity to the Bay of Fundy brings with it cooler summer temperatures than inland, and extends the tourism season with longer, temperate autumns. Winters in Halls Harbour bring that secluded, oceanfront feel, with winter views and vistas across the Bay. Winter tourism provides a rugged beauty, with a maintained road allowing for access year round.

This quiet dead-end street provides a tranquil setting, just steps from the activity at the wharf. On a typical day, the only noise you hear is the sounds of the ocean. Being completely renovated, the house has that new-home feel, but retains the old time charm.

The Hideaway at Halls Harbour is ideally suited for up to 6 people, and was laid out with our family of 4 children in mind. It works well for large families, providing 4 single beds, as well as the queen bed in the master bedroom.

While away from home, we wish to provide the luxuries we are all used to such as in-home laundry, unlimited internet (no TV), modern bathroom, bluetooth speakers, dishwasher, and luxurious bedding.

THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS
You have access to the complete home; please respect it as you would your own.

The harbour offers public beach access, and we will highlight for you unique locations and discoveries along the beach.

Upon booking, we will provide you with a Google Map of the local attractions and hidden gems that we will share with you, waiting to be discovered. Your week could be filled with our suggestions alone, but you will likely have other discoveries to share back with us. The options are endless, and there is something for everyone.

****We have the friendliest neighbours around; please respect their space in this shared bit of paradise.

INTERACTION WITH US
We respect your privacy, and welcome you to our home as if it is your own. We won’t be present on site with you, but will provide you your own access instructions and our contact information in the case you need to contact us.

We expect you will enjoy your family time, and will let you cherish that without our interruption.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Walking out the door, you will be struck with the ocean vistas and ocean sounds, while the lobster boats often hover out front working their way into harbour, or waiting for the dramatic tides to change and permit re-entry.

A short few steps to the harbour brings you to the Lobster Pound, where you buy your dinner to cook back home, or sit down in their licensed Restaurant and enjoy a wide range of seafood dishes prepared for you (and no dishes!).

The harbour wharf also has an artisan coop, selling local artworks.

A short drive or bike ride will bring you to Sea Cones Ice Cream Boat, a unique lobster boat ice cream shop. Not to be missed are their Lobster Rolls, at times selling out with their demand.

Within a 15-20 minute drive, you will find yourself in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, full of orchards, vineyards, the trendy university town of Wolfville, and a wide range of deliciousness to satisfy your inner foodie. We will provide a list of our favourites. Shopping can be found for groceries, souvenirs, and big box shops all within close proximity.

Consider tourist attractions such as the Magic Winery Bus, Grand Pré National Historic Site, Ross Creek Centre of the Arts (world class outdoor theatre), Ghost Walk Tours, nearby Shubenacadie Tidal Bore Rafting, and a 2.5hr drive to exceptional whale watching on Brier Island.

The Bay of Fundy offers a lengthy list of nature discoveries, including the hike at Cape Split, Blomidon Provincial Park, and explorations along all the coves and beaches.

Halifax airport is 1hr & 20min close, as is the city of Halifax.

Wolfville and Kentville are 15 min away.

All destinations will be detailed to you in our annotated Google Map.

Beautiful unwind and peace-filled place.
We loved this spot and our hosts were the best. So helpful and the people in this area are lovely…it’s quiet, relaxing and the sound of the sea you can forget your worries. Great hub for so many natural wonders, historic places and beautiful towns. Everything on the property is there for making a beautiful and comfortable stay. We learned much about the area and the Mikmaq story here too. :-) Grateful.

Melissa and Charles enjoy travel and all things ocean. They are raising a family of 4 children, and enjoy exploring Canada's east coast in their family adventure bus.

While waiting to retire at The Hideaway, Melissa and Charles work in teaching and robotics, respectively.

Why they chose this property

Drawn to the area with a collective Acadian family history at Grand Pre, Melissa and Charles discovered all the beauty of the Bay of Fundy and quickly determined this would be their retirement locale. The area has it all, from oceans and mountains, vineyards and fresh picked produce, ocean breezes and sunny vistas, sunset and stars, beaches and waterfalls, fishing and whale watching. With so much to do, it is easy to exhaust away your time before you have a chance to do it all.

What makes this property unique

The sunsets and proximity to the water and harbour are wonderfully enjoyable.

This home has been fully updated and renovated with modern conveniences in mind. Travellers will find laundry, dishwasher, bluetooth speakers, and a modern decor that feels crisp and updated.
