About this property
Cabanas Potosi, El Valle de Anton, Panama Birders-Nature Lovers-Waterfalls-ETC
Cabanas Potosi was started in 1980 by Patria Greco de Bernal. In 2009, Patria's daughter and her daughter's husband from Iowa/USA took over the ownership and management of the cabins after retiring from education in Florida. Since 2009, over 10,000 clients have stayed at Cabanas Potosi. The clients have come from the following areas: 42% from N. America, 29% from Europe, 25% from Panama and 3% from Asia.
Cabanas Potosi cabin is located inside a lush garden. The cabin has free parking, with a hammock on the front terrace, hot water showers, refrigerator, wall/ceiling fans and two beds (Single & Double).
We offer free shuttle service in El Valle for clients who do not have their own transportation.
We contract out on transportation to and from the Beach (45 Min.) and the International Airport in Panama City. The minimum trip time from the airport to Cabanas Potosi takes 3-hours.
If you arrive by public bus, depart across the street from the Central Market
If arriving by rent-a-car, once you pass St Jose's Catholic Church on the main street, you will find our direction signs to Cabanas Potosi. After the church guide right, cross a small bridge, guide left and we are 5 minutes straight ahead, on the right, after a small curve.
El Valle has over 300 species of birds, 4-waterfalls, mountain trails, lockout points, cold & hot springs, zoo, orchid and butterfly gardens, over 30 restaurants, with prices ranging between $4.25 & $20.00, 2-banks and 5-ATMs.
The community of El Valle sits in an extinct volcanic crater at 3,000 feet above sea level. The temperatures range to the low 60's at night to the low 80's during the day. The valley is 3-miles long and 1-mile wide.
The community is made up of the following three different groups of people: The natives of El Valle are mainly made up of people of Indian ancestry who have lived in this valley for over 600 years; the second group are well to do families from Panama City and have expensive second homes located here; the 3rd group is made up of at least 200 international retirees from 40 different countries.
Rainy season normally runs from May 1 until November 30. During his time we can receive up to 200 inches of rain per season. Usually it rains in the middle of the afternoon. Dry season normally runs from Dec. 1 through April 30th.
The cabins sleep three, and have a beautiful front porch with chairs and hammocks to relax in. A cabin with attached kitchen is $10 extra. Also, we are completely fenced in for your safety. You are provided with a key for your cabin and the front gate. El Valle de Anton is one of the five top tourism spots in Panama.

Why they chose this property
This property was bought by Mireya's grandfather in the 1940's and was a cattle/horse ranch. After the ranch was split up between Mireya's father and uncle, her mother, Patria Greco de Bernal started "Cabanas Potosi" in 1980. Also, this is where Mireya spent her childhood when not attending school in Panama City.
What makes this property unique
Cabanas Potosi sits on four acres in a lush valley in the town of El Valle de Anton at 3,000 feet with temperatures between the low 60's to 85 F all year round. It is the home of about 8,000 people and hundreds of birds and butterflies.
