This property looks nothing like the photos, also to note it is pretty much right on top of the road. Upon arrival, beds were slept in and not changed, towels all over both bathroom floors, dirty toilets, cobwebs and spiders throughout the house, floors dusty, sawdust on both couches, and the fridge was full of food and fruit flies. We stayed only long enough to see everything and take photos as evidence for a full refund. The host has not yet responded to me, our case for a full refund is pending.

Wooded Retreat

Spacious cabin located in a remote wooded location providing the perfect retreat from life's busy demands. The screened in porch was the perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee, an afternoon read, or to have late night conversations. The property came stocked with all the staples and then some. We enjoyed reading books and playing games that were plentiful around the house.

Like visiting at a friend’s home

Mary and Jim opened their home and provided all the comforts - just as if they would if they were here with us. From toiletries, to a stocked wood fire and fire ring to a welcome meal and breakfast essentials, we felt like we were visiting friends. Easy parking, interesting decor, things to do that we didn’t need to pack. What a wonderful experience! Thank you!

Prefect retreat for our Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family!

This cabin is about a 30 minute drive from Natural Bridge/Gorge/and Miguel’s Pizza. It is very secluded with a short hiking trail at the rear of the property. The cabin is cozy and rustic. The decor is very eclectic and really cool! The cabin was stocked with most everything you would need (shampoo, first aid, breakfast, etc etc). Which is a good thing because once you get to the cabin, you don’t want to leave. The cabin is very spacious and comfortably can accommodate 6 people! The host was extremely helpful and we appreciate that they allow pets! We would definitely stay again!

Peaceful getaway

This cabin was beautiful and the host outdid herself with all of the food that she left. The upstairs is a little dark but we spent most of our time downstairs. There were little hairs all inside the bathtub upstairs that I cleaned out before we used the tub but besides that the cabin was so nice. I loved reading about its history in the article hung on the wall in the kitchen. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants a peaceful place to relax away from home.

Staying at a friend’s cabin!

What a gem! a fantastic home being shared with us! How fortunate we were to be able to enjoy a great home, tucked into the woods and close to awesome hiking trails! You can feel the love of the homeowner in this property - this isn’t a business, it’s an act of love! Every detail is thoughtful. We’ve stayed in places all over the world and rate this great place in the top 5. A special and kind nod to the family who makes this possible. What an excellent getaway!

Paradise in Kentucky

We had a girl’s getaway at Mary’s cabin in June. Back when we were looking to book in the area, we kept being drawn back to Peddler’s Fork Inn so we made the booking. Absolutely the right choice…from Mary’s quick communication, to the pristine condition of the cabin, to the dinner waiting for us when we arrived. The kitchen was so well equipped with pretty much any appliance, utensil, cookware you could need, plus fresh eggs, bacon, English muffins and so much more! I slept on the sofa bed and was very comfortable. We felt it was the perfect place for us with lots of space, especially the main room and the screened porch. But, to be honest, we all spent most of our time in the kitchen!! Be sure to read the newspaper article posted to the right of the stove. One of the greatest compliments we can give is that it felt like home.

a little disappointing

we just left the house today and truthfully- i was a little disappointed in the house- this was my second stay here and i absolutley loved it the first time. this time- the handle on door to the deck is broken so the door was pretty unusable- we had to leave it open all day so we didnt have to fight to get it open. there were also just some inconveniences such as the coffeepot didnt work and the oven would not light we had the ac unit on upstairs and i think the circuit breaker tripped -- the ac stopped running and it was unbearable upstairs. it also drips in the kitchen and on the deck when the air conditioning is running it just felt like the house isnt loved like it once was. its a great house and i am saddened by this

***BE ADVISED*** Paid for 3 rooms only able to use 2 during summer with window unit that leaks

Upon arrival: “Front door” locked from inside, no key for side door anywhere nearby except for the owner, who was a 2hr round trip to Lexington. She was too busy to bring key to us and her husband was at a movie. She offered us a hotel stay however with a dog and the fact that we Vrbo for a reason, that would not work. Since she was not going to be accommodating, we made the drive with our dog, who was sick of riding by this point. After the hour drive and continued efforts to make contact with her; she gave me 16 keys in total, she was unsure which was actually the correct one. It was all very sketchy and unlike anything I’d experienced in my years of renting from Vrbo/Home Away. I should also mention that during this ordeal, when I told her that we were 12 hours from home and didn’t know where anything was, she enlightened me that she had made a trip to Japan alone once, she even told me to calm down at one point. The cabin was definitely rustic. Cobwebs and bugs, not a big deal. The upstairs is hot, the window unit is unusable since it will leak through to kitchen. Urine smelling clothes were in dryer. Sheets stunk and you are even instructed to leave sheets on bed when you leave…gross. Had to flip breakers for microwave, washer and both bathrooms multiple times. I tried contacting her several other times on our trip, even to let her know she had left her purse there…sketchy. Still haven’t heard back from her. She said she’d give me some money back, not holding my breath.

Bring your spider spray and beware of Rabid dog…

The overall impression of the property was horrible, burnt out lightbulbs I had to change, many many many spiderwebs in all corners on the walls, window, shades lamps, etc., including spiders. A wild dog that kept running around the cabin and barking wildly, which meant any outdoor. and marshmallow roasting was completely out of the question. We were only at the property from our check-in time about 48 4 PM for about an hour assessing the cobwebs spiderwebs wasps inside and the wild dog running outside. At that time we decided we can’t stay at that cabin so we left we never spent any time in the cabin that we paid for and we’re not we’re working to try to recuperate our money not to mention it was impossible to make any contact with the host via text or phone call so please beware of this property.

A mansion among cabins

This cabin is huge. It’s full of antiques and eclectic decor. We loved it. It’s closed to red river gorge and natural bridge so perfect for day hikes. It is dusty. Remember it is a cabin. Don’t expect Marriott or Hilton. There were some issues I addressed with the owner, who seems attentive to taking care of them. There is no pool table. The game room is now an extra bedroom but there are plenty of board games, a chess/checkers table and ample room to spread out, read, play games, whatever. The hot tub is a jacuzzi bath. Overall, a nice place to stay with plenty of room and I was so appreciative that our dogs were welcome too.

Perfect Historical Cabin

From communication with the owner, to comfort, to seclusion, to convenience…..this cabin HAS IT ALL!!!! The cabin itself has such history and every corner seems as if it could tell a story. Our first night it rained so we spent the evening playing boardgames (provided by the owner) on the screened-in porch listening to the noises of nature. Each bedroom provided cozy beds. The bathrooms were large (both showers are walk-in) with great water pressure and everything you would need. If you forgot a toothbrush, Mary has you covered. If you need bug spray, Mary has you covered. Need a sewing kit for a loose button, Mary has you covered! The cabin is well stocked!!!!! We had our pup with us who absolutely loved the size of the yard and played fetch for hours at a time while the family relaxed on the large deck. Everything was perfect regarding our stay. Mary provided a meal on our first night (lasagna, salad and dinner rolls) and let me tell ya, delicious doesn’t even describe how good it was. Also provided to us was breakfast foods for our stay, a fridge full of water and any condiment you could ever need. Thank you Mary for sharing your property with my family. We made great memories and will definitely be returning. You deserve an award for best host and BEST CHEF!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Wow! The cabin is amazing!! We couldn’t believe the size of the cabin when we walked in! We loved using the fireplace (Mary had it ready to go the first night). Impressed with all the amenities. The kitchen…ahh the kitchen, if it wasn’t there then you didn’t need it, it was stocked with all things you need to cook with. We did stay upstairs in the king size bed that was very comfy! Bathroom adjoined to master bedroom is awesome-loved the tub!! All in all, we had a great weekend getaway that was super cozy and will be returning in the future! Thank you Mary!!

Ticket to Paradise

We visit the Gorge every year and this has by far been my favorite cabin! While it’s situated a little further out from the State park, it is truly worth the extra travel time. The owner (and/or staff) go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The cabin itself is adorable but the service provided takes the cake! The fireplace was ready to light, the fridge was stocked with pre-made meals, items for breakfast, and bottled water. The owner, Mary, was pleasant and easy to communicate with. Not to mention there was NOT a long list of chores for us to do upon check out like at other rentals. It truly was relaxing in every way. We will be back again…this time for a longer stay!

Peaceful getaway

Property was as described. Lovely old cabin with lots of character. We only used the 2 bedrooms downstairs and the beds were very comfortable, plenty of covers and pillows, comfy and soft sheets. The only thing we were a little disappointed in was that the trail leading into the woods to the left when leaving the cabin was very short. After less than a quarter mile there was a sign posted that the property was private and was under another name so we turned around and went back. I had thought from the description that we would have 50+ acres to roam. Perhaps I was mistaken. It's still a lovely property and Mary has provided almost anything a person could need. We enjoyed the stay!
