Rustic, indeed
A few things to know about this cabin:
-- This is a very rustic rental. It was relatively clean and semi-comfortable, but it’s decidedly not fancy or elegant.
-- The pool is nice and well-maintained. The deck surrounding the pool is not, and you will want to wear shoes on it (one of our party got a half-inch splinter from the weathered and cracking wood and ended up at urgent care when it got infected).
-- The beds may remind you of camping -- think a well-used four-inch foam mattress on plywood -- and are about as comfortable.
-- There is a paucity of overhead lighting, but an abundance of standing and table lamps. Unfortunately, many of them don’t work.
-- There is no trash service, so you will need to take your garbage and recycling to the nearby dump and pay a minor charge. This is not a big deal, unless the prior tenants decide to leave a large garbage can full of their rank, rotting trash next to the front door, which happened to us. We notified the owner upon arrival, but it remained at the corner of the house, where we had dragged it, during the full week of our stay.
