Needs improvement
We drove in from La Fortuna and had to meet up with the property managers to get the keys. They were 30 minutes late and we had no cell service to communicate with them. We followed them to the property which was over 10 minutes away from the security entrance. Once at the property they rambled on for about 30 minutes about every irrelevant detail including how to find the trash dump on the huge property. I asked for a map of the property but apparently one doesn't exist because they don't want locals to get their hands on such valuable information. He kept emphasizing security and keeping the doors locked, they even installed a wood rod as a backup lock on every window and door. There wasn't any laundry soap or dishwasher soap. We ran out of toilet paper with a day to go so we ended up having to buy items for the house. The kitchen and bedroom furniture is worn out and some parts don't slide open properly. The pool is much smaller than we thought it was from the pictures. On the morning we were leaving for the airport they messaged me to meet up and get the keys. I let them know what time we were leaving, this time they were 15 minutes late. We drove drove for 30 minutes trying to dump our trash in the green armadillo that they told us was impossible not to find with no luck. 30 minutes after we leave I get notification from VRBO that they charged us $20 because there were 3 bags of trash in the house when we checked out. We paid almost $2000 to stay here and you're going to be that petty? Definitely need to get a lock box and and adequate map of the property for guests. Be respectful of guests valuable time. Fix the parts of the house that are falling apart. Ensure there are adequate supplies for the guests. Don't be petty.

Return to paradise
This was our 2nd visit to Casa Allegria. Our first was January of 2019 (during the dry season). As gorgeous as the area was then, to return at the tail end of the rainy season was incredible. Everything had transformed to lush green. This truly is a beautiful area and it has everything you could need. Matapalo beach is within a 7 minute drive for a peaceful day at the ocean. Playas del Coco (Coco Beach) is just 20 minutes the other direction if you are looking for restaurants, souvenirs, groceries and nightlife. If you are looking for adventure, you can do as we did and drive 1 hour to Tenorio Adventures for some awesome white water rafting. Rincon de la Vieja is within 1 hour and 15 minutes. There you can experience hot springs, zip lines, horseback riding and the beauty of nature. Back to the house... Casa Allegria is stunning. All 3 bed rooms are well equipped and the beds and linens are perfectly comfortable. There is AC in every room and it cools things down quickly. The kitchen has everything you need and there are 2 barbecues on the patio. We grilled fresh Mahi Mahi as we watched parrots fly over. For us, the main attraction of this house is the back patio. It is huge, with seating for 20 people, but the furniture is perfectly arranged. Each seating area offers a different angle of the stunning valley and mountain view. The infinity edge pool is the perfect spot to cool down as you marvel at the local flora and fauna. We love this place so much, we purchased the vacant lot 3 doors down. If that isn't testimony to how fantastic this area is, then I don't know what is. Thank you Jacqueline, Ryan and Shawna

Comfortable home with great value
We had a terrific stay with the house being exactly as advertised. Jacqueline is extremely professional and easy to work with. Our two weeks were spent with early morning walks at the local beach then the afternoon enjoying the pool at the house or exploring one of the dozens of towns and beaches along the cost. Hellohanny is a local family run restaurant that works hard to please with great sea bass in a traditional Tico atmosphere and Marco at the fruit stand and the fish market are great local options. We saw a lot of the area and in our opinion this home has the best non-ocean view in Lomas as the valley is deep and wide which provides for amazing sunsets. Only issue we had was there were a few days of controlled burns that made it a bit difficult to enjoy the outdoors due to the smoke and we had to sleep with the windows closed due to early morning traffic (not busy by any means, just a bit noisy if a truck or motorbike went by) on the road below. Minor stuff that is outside anyone's control so don't sweat it and book this place for a terrific vacation and ideal location to explore the area.

Paradise
I can't say enough about how perfect Casa Allegria was for us. We achieved ultimate relaxation in a paradise setting. As described by the owner, the birds in the morning with my coffee, while looking over the valley was the best way to start any day. We loved the fact that we didn't have to fight for a lounge chair as compared to staying at a resort. The back patio at Casa Aleggria has enough chairs, loungers and couches to seat 20 or more people and we tried them all. They were all great. Lounging in the pool was our favourite thing to do. We could lean up against the infinity edge and look out over the valley. There we could see butterflies, hummingbirds, huge pilliated woodpeckers, flocks of green parrots, Costa Rican blue jays and a bunch of other birds species. Speaking of the owner, Jacqueline was extremely helpful leading up to our trip. She offered advice on local attractions, restaurants and grocery stores. There is a fresh fruit stand near the front gate of the complex she recommended that was great. We loaded up on fresh pineapple, papaya, mangoes, passion fruit and cantaloupe. All were full of flavour and super cheap. We also checked out the fish monger she had recommended. Juan Carlos welcomed us into his shop and showed us his product. He had some fresh sea bass caught that morning. He prepared the fillets while we waited and we left with 3 pounds of incredible fish for $10 per pound! This stuff sells for $35 per pound at home... awesome! We also scored some huge shrimp. Getting back to the house... now we have to cook all this amazing seafood. The kitchen has everything any chef could possibly need. The gas stove top was great and we had a wide variety of pots and pans. There is also a high end convection oven. There are 2 barbecues on the patio (one gas and one charcoal). Imagine grilling huge shrimp while parrots are flying by and howler monkeys can be heard in the distance. The bed in the seperate master was so comfortable, we slept so well. The ensuite bath had a huge shower with an awesome rainshower head. There were plenty of plush towels as well as an assortment of pool and beach towels. The 2 bedrooms in the main house were also very nice. Each one with it's own seperate balcony. The living room featured a couch and love seat that were super comfortable. There was a nice flat screen and a wide selection of books. We loved the decor and finishings all through the house. In a word, Casa Allegria is stunning, inside and out.

Why they chose this property

From our very first adventure to the Osca Peninsula scuba diving, spotting Humpbacks, mating Hawksbill’s and trekking in the rainforest with the three toed Sloths, to our next trip zip lining and horseback riding in Monteverde, to a golf holiday in Playa Cochal we were romanced by the allure of Costa Rica. The decision to purchase a vacation home in Costa Rica required considerable research. The new airport in Liberia with many direct flights from US and Canada is far superior to flying into SanJose. We wanted access to great beaches, easy shopping and great adventure without giving up precious time in long transfers from airport to our destination. Guanacaste is known as the Gold Coast of CR. It boasts the longest dry season with 0 days of rain from January to March. We are very much in love with our Casa Allegria. It is perfectly situated in extreme privacy perched on top of the ridge facing west into the mountains in a nearly 600 acre development in a secure gated community named Lomas Del Mar. The members pool and fitness facility has a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Papagayo. Wonderful place for a sunset cocktail. We have many recommendations to help you get the most out of your experience, but most of what CR has to offer is available leaving directly from the front gate at Lomas (no buses or transfers) to waste valuable holiday time. Lomas has a full first class equestrian centre that will also arrange beach rides. Viva La Costa Outdoor Adventures has the truly amazing TomCar adventure or ATVs leaving directly from Lomas. Diamanté has the #1 rated Zipline adventure in CR just a couple of minutes from our gate. They also have a wildlife experience that immerses you in butterflies and Jaguars and all important CR wildlife. Paddle boards or Jetskis at Matapolo beach 7 minutes from our front gate. Grocery stores and fresh fruit are abundant minutes from the gate. The adventure of Costa Rica awaits. Pure Vida.
