Leave the city, come breath some fresh air and relax with the cedar trees!
I have a nicely decorated, clean one bedroom cabin (550 sq ft) in 12 acres of forest far away from the hustle of modern life.** The cabin offers a queen bed in a small bedroom, a sleeper sofa and a loft with a queen mattress that kids might enjoy sleeping on, all with queen bedding for a total of three places to sleep. There are ample cotton linens, necessary kitchen amenities, dishes, wine and martini glasses, etc. and a washer and dryer.
Unplug from it all and relax in the peace of your own forest. There are no neighbors to see from the cabin and the Whispering Pines Forest is pristine.
Unwind with a good book, build a puzzle and take a contemplative walk in the forest or nearby trail, about 5 minutes walking from the cabin. Watch the deer and turkeys walk by, play a game of horseshoes, have fun on the tree swing and use the old fashioned outhouse. Don't worry the cabin has plumbing, hot water, a toilet and shower! (It is a small bathroom with a low ceiling.)
There is no T.V., phone or internet and the cell reception is spotty. Most likely you would have to walk up the hill one block to get cell reception. If desired you could also log into my internet once you’re up the hill.
More action oriented, head two miles down to Lake Pend Oreille at Talache Landing for a swim from the small beach or to launch your canoe or kayak. Mirror Lake, a small lake, is also about two miles away for swimming and rentals of small boats or old paddle boats for $30-45 a day. Bottle Bay is a nice swimming beach with a little restaurant too.
There is easy, ample parking on the property with lots of room for your toys (boat, ATVs’ motorcycles, etc.). Bring your saw and fall a dying tree, if you like! Afterwards light a campfire in front of the cabin and roast your hotdogs and marshmallows.
Head into Sandpoint for restaurants, a beach walk and swimming, lake cruise, horseback riding, boat and bike rentals and nearby hiking and surrounding area. Return to the cabin after playing and enjoy the forest in your own beautiful restful retreat.
**A neighbor, about 3/8 of a mile from the cabin, is running his generator, intermittently, for power. Grrr… A low grade sound from the generator can be heard outside the cabin. If you are super noise sensitive (I am!) the noise could bother you. If you are talking you won’t notice the noise.
**About one mile of bad, bumpy potholed dirt road, past a couple of unsightly, junk car infested neighbors’ to the cabin. Once on the ridge of Pristine View Drive you will see the stunning Lake Pend Orielle. The surplus of neighbors’ dogs can occasionally bark. No pets, please.
There is a convenience store and gas station (Conoco) 20 minutes or so from the cabin at Sagle Road and the 95. The grocery stores are in Sandpoint, another 10 minutes north. There is a Super One in Athol 45 minutes south of Sagle right off the 95 on your way up, if you’re coming from the south.
