Summary:
Located half a block off King Street and BRAND NEW TO THE RENTAL MARKET, built in 1882, Josephine's Apartment has retained all her charm, and with an address in the heart of the city, it is walking distance to the best shopping in Charleston. Josespine's is a hidden gem nestled on Society St with double front porches and a giant magical tree in the front courtyard! A white picket fence marks the address, adding ambiance and privacy to the double porches.
The Space:
Upon entering the house, you'll be delighted by the unique front door and know you have arrived somewhere special.
In the first room to the left, you will enjoy the library with a diverse collection of books, a large dining table, and a bar for afternoon cocktails. Open the pocket doors and you will be in the parlor with one of seven fireplaces that are original to the house. Parlors are quintessential to Charleston homes for entertaining or afternoon tea.
Down the hall, you will find a powder room, followed by a quaint kitchen, equipped with a dainty retro fridge, induction cooktop, kettle, toaster oven, and a 1940s era French sink, newly up fitted with a Butcher block countertop, stainless steel sink and dishwasher, microwave, lots of vintage dishes, and a Coffee pot. Enjoy your meals at the White lacquer tulip table for two while the sunlight filters in through the shaded garden walkway.
Across the hall is room No. 6 with a king bed and a place to hang your clothes in the rosy glow of the modern lamps. Positioned in the center of the house, this room is quiet and relaxing. To freshen up, you will have your choice of a full bath appointed with a vintage claw foot tub across the hall, or to the right, there is a second full bathroom with a vast new 5‘ x 3‘walk-in shower with bench and rain head.
At the end of the hall sits Bedroom No. 8, which we refer to as Josephine’s Room. It has an eloquently decorated king-size bed, a chandelier, mid-century Wall Sconces, and a fireplace. You will have access to a small covered porch that leads to the enchanting and secluded garden. If visiting in the winter, don't forget to pick some oranges from our tree shading the garden for your morning juice or cocktail.
Josephine's apartment has been thoughtfully furnished with eclectic vintage pieces, funky artwork, and a collection of plants in neat pots throughout this home, adding to this perfect Charleston getaway.

The Neighborhood:
King Street is a block away and is filled with national stores, such as Anthropologie and Madewell. Charleston also has a lot of lovely local stores, including Indigo and Cotton, Havens, RTW, J.Stark, Taxidermy, Dumas, and CandleFish.
The Second Sunday of every month, King Street closes down to cars, and there are lots of vendors and food carts set up to wander through. Tables are set up in the street, and it's very dog-friendly. You are also a few blocks from the Farmer's Market, which happens every Saturday until 2.
Getting Around:
The neighborhood is very walkable, lots to see just outside the front door. Charleston has a lot to offer and you can travel by car, uber, bus or bicycle.
