The Space: Comfort Meets Tropical Architecture
Designed with high ceilings and an open-concept layout to maximize natural ventilation and light, this home offers:

Private Bedroom: Features a Queen-size bed with panoramic views of the gardens and mountains. Includes A/C and floor fan for personalized comfort.

Seamless Living: A fully open-air equipped kitchen and social area that opens directly onto a private balcony with a hammock—ideal for morning coffee while birdwatching.

Refining the Tropical Experience: The bathroom features a fresh-water shower (unheated), which is refreshing and standard for authentic tropical living in our coastal climate.

Location & Exclusive Access
While located in a peaceful area away from the hustle of the center, you are only a 5-minute drive from Jacó’s beach, surf breaks, and restaurants.

The Lookout: Guests enjoy access to a private viewpoint just a short walk from the house, offering stunning ocean views—the perfect spot for sunset.

Logistics & Accessibility (Important)
To ensure the total privacy and the "treetop" views that define Casa Matapalo, please consider the following:

Arrival: A 4x4 vehicle is recommended to access the property’s private road comfortably.

The Climb: Access to the house involves approximately 70 steps from the parking area. This elevation is what guarantees the unmatched views and seclusion; however, it may not be suitable for guests with mobility concerns.

Nature Immersion: The house is inmersed in a tropical setting. You will likely see iguanas, toucans, and butterflies. We provide mosquito nets for the bed and recommend repellent for the outdoor areas to ensure your comfort.

Why Choose Casa Matapalo?
If you are looking for an authentic, high-quality Costa Rican experience—where professional management meets raw natural beauty—this is your spot. Perfect for couples or solo travelers who value peace, architectural character, and a connection with nature without being isolated.

Everything we expected for a Tree House

We were met by the host who showed us around. The property was spectacular with a great view. If you’re looking for a place where you can be one with nature this is it. The only negative was the shower had very little water pressure and was just a stream coming out. And it was cold. However it was fine for us only staying one night.

8/10 Good

Beautiful not-quite-finished home!

The house is as beautiful we we imagined! The windows look out over the jungle and it's absolutely stunning. The outdoor kitchen was a great way to spend our breakfast, and we were able to even enjoy the hammock on the deck outside of the bedroom as well. Our biggest complaints were the shower did not have a head attached to it was only a trickle of water coming out. It also didn't have hot water, which we found out later is pretty common in Costa Rica. Feels nice after hiking up the hill to get to the house, but not great in the morning. I think the house could use some find tuning, there are a couple spots with large gaps which really just waste air conditioning, and it would be nice to have hooks or something in the bathroom. You also definitely need 4 wheel drive to get to the house. We even had to use 4L to get back out. But the beds were glorious and I would still definitely recommend this home! The view alone is worth it!

About the host

Hosted by Paola

Host profile image
I am a property manager, hospitality entrepreneur, and a dedicated enthusiast of the Costa Rican lifestyle. Since 2018, my family and I have been developing a curated collection of vacation rentals in Jacó, a project born from our passion for tropical architecture, clean design, and high-quality hospitality.

A Balanced Way of Living
Hosting is my way of sharing the lifestyle I cherish—one balanced by early morning surf sessions, aerial arts training, and the peaceful energy of the Central Pacific. While Casa Palma offers a more modern, urban-tropical aesthetic, it remains rooted in our philosophy of providing a serene retreat where guests can disconnect from stress and enjoy the best of our coastal town.

8+ Years of Proven Experience
With nearly a decade of experience managing my own properties and leading our family’s entrepreneurial vision, I take great pride in offering a professional, seamless, and secure experience. My goal is for you to feel completely at home, knowing you have a local expert and a seasoned professional to ensure every detail of your stay is handled with care.

Whether you are visiting Jacó to work remotely with high-speed connectivity, enjoy the world-class surf, or explore the local gastronomy, I am here to ensure your stay at Casa Palma is comfortable, stylish, and unforgettable.

Why they chose this property

We chose this location because it offers the ultimate convenience for the modern traveler: the tranquility of a private residential area, situated just minutes from the vibrant heart and world-class surf of Jacó.

A Serene & Green Setting
Casa Matapalo is located within a peaceful property adjacent to one of Jacó’s last remaining protected wetlands. This unique positioning creates a lush, green backdrop that provides a sense of calm and privacy rarely found nearby rentals.

Unmatched Connectivity
While you will enjoy a quiet and secure environment, you are never more than a few minutes away from the best the Central Pacific has to offer. A quick 5-minute drive connects you to:

Beach & Surf: Immediate access to the consistent waves and sunsets of Playa Jacó.

Dining & Social Life: A sophisticated array of international restaurants, cafes, and local boutiques.

Convenience: The town's main supermarkets, pharmacies, and services are just around the corner.

It is the ideal home base for those who seek a high-standard, modern retreat—focused on comfort and efficiency—while staying connected to the natural beauty and adventurous spirit of Costa Rica.

What makes this property unique

Casa Matapalo offers the most exclusive and elevated residential experience in our collection. Nestled within the highest point of our family-owned estate, this home is designed as a sophisticated retreat that follows the natural slope of the land. Its unique position provides breathtaking views over the lush wetlands and the vibrant canopy of the surrounding tropical forest.

Seamless Connection with Nature

What truly distinguishes Casa Matapalo is its intentional, open-air design. Every space—from the functional kitchen with mountain views to the bedroom with its private balcony—has been curated to foster a sense of serenity. Here, the boundaries between the contemporary interior and the outdoors disappear, allowing the tropical breeze and natural light to flow through every level.

Exclusivity Through Elevation

To guarantee its unmatched seclusion, the house is reached via a scenic ascent. This physical transition separates you from the world below, leading you to a private sanctuary that sits closest to our estate’s exclusive lookout point with views of the Pacific Ocean and Jacó’s mountains.

Why Casa Matapalo is a "Rare Find":

Total Privacy: As our most elevated unit, it offers absolute intimacy with no overlooking neighbors.

Architectural Harmony: A unique multi-level layout that respects the terrain and provides a different perspective of the jungle from every room.

High-Speed Connectivity: Reliable Fiber Optic Wi-Fi, perfect for those who find inspiration in nature.

Strategic Location: A peaceful escape just a 5-minute drive from the coast’s best surf and amenities.
