About this property
LITTLE HOUSE on the HILL - Gorge Getaway Home Base
This little house started life as a woodworking shop. When we outgrew it, we made it into a guest house. It may be imperfect, but it's perfectly adorable. We have a little peek of Mt. Hood from the yard. The territorial views are lovely. At night, you can enjoy the beauty of a Milky Way sky far from city light pollution.
Come. Enjoy. Relax.

SETTING Situated on five acres near the main house, in a quiet rural neighborhood, this bright, cheery space is about 10 minutes, (5.5 miles) from White Salmon's charming pubs, restaurants, shops, and grocery. Hood River is about 20 minutes (10 miles) away - just a short hop across the Hood River toll bridge ($3.50)*. It's a restful country retreat or a practical home-base for your Gorge adventures or business travel. It's a quiet spot great for relaxing and as a home-base for Gorge adventures, but if you want to be in the thick of things or you want more immediate access to the river and main highway, it's probably not the best choice. Many people feel the location is perfect; please consider whether it is perfect for you before booking.
*You can buy a BreezeBy pass from the Port of Hood River, which reduces the cost by half. Search "Port of Hood River breeze by accounts" for more information.
PARKING Parking is at the end of the driveway and is marked. We keep 2 spaces available for guests and can make more available if needed. We have had guests with fishing boats, motorcycle trailers, and RVs.
LAYOUT The house consists of two large rooms with a connecting open doorway. One side includes the living and dining areas, and kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, and built-in electric oven with stove. The second side contains the sleeping area, bathroom, closet/laundry. The sleeping area has a queen bed, small dresser, bedside stand, and curtain, which allows for bedroom privacy while maintaining bathroom access for all. There is no door on the bedroom, which may not be ideal for those with infants, small children, or snoring issues. The floors are laminate, ceramic, and vinyl composite tile.
BEDS Although the space is ideal for two people sharing the queen-size bed, a queen-sized Murphy bed is installed in the dining area of the large room, and two single cots or cot mattresses are available upon request. If you want to use the Murphy bed, we will adjust the position of the dining table and chairs so everything will fit. We also have a Pack 'n Play play yard with a full-size removable bassinet. The bassinet weight limit is 15 pounds; the play yard has a weight limit of 30 pounds. Please let us know what you need BEFORE arriving so we can set it up for you.. (Please also see the layout notes.)
WORKSPACE An office chair, a desk with a lamp, and a color laser printer are in the large room. The printer is set up on the wireless network but a 10-foot USB printer cable is included in case of connection difficulties.
NATURE You may hear coyotes at night or doves cooing in the trees. Nature is all around us. If the sight of a daddy-long-legs fills you with fright, best not to stay here.
PLEASE ASK US! If you want something specific, please ask. We'll do our best to accommodate. We want you to have a stress-free stay. If you arrive and realize that you forgot to make a request, whether for bed set-up, an additional guest, or any other detail, don't hesitate to let us know. Give us an opportunity to be helpful. Quiet, clean, nice private place out in the hills. Great for relaxing and enjoying some downtime. I recommend going into town to visit white salmon bakery during your stay!
Super cute little house tucked up above White Salmon. So quiet and peaceful, just what we were hoping for. Very well stocked too. Wished we could’ve stayed longer!
Beautiful and quiet and roomy!! The kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and amenities were all great! Just a short drive up the hill from White Salmon, the stars at night are spectacular. There are so many amazing activities nearby, you will sleep like a log every night.
This property was very clean, spacious, and had literally everything labeled. It’s in a quiet area and the hosts gave us a ton of info and responded very quickly. Would recommend to anyone!

This place, high above Salmon Arm, is perfectly located for exploring both sides of the Gorge. Very comfortable, with all the amenities, private and very quiet. Very friendly hosts, knowledgeable and ready to share their knowledge of the area - thank you.
The cabin is modern, clean and neat, and Katie is an awesome host. It's a little bit out in the country, but well worth the drive for the quiet and scenery.
My partner and I came here for our anniversary and absolutely loved our time. It was so cozy and relaxing to get away from everyone and enjoy the surrounding nature!
A great clean and quiet spot for us to stay while we were attending a weekends long wedding in White Salmon. Listing was accurate and communication was great with the host.
