Set among gently rolling lawns, fruit trees, and forested hills, the house feels both spacious and grounded, with sweeping mountain views and rare quiet just minutes from town.
Sunlight pours through 10 loft-style windows, filling the open-plan living spaces with warm light throughout the day—from soft morning glow to radiant sunsets. A centered fireplace anchors the main living area, offering warmth and connection in every season.
Florentine is especially well-suited for longer stays of 3–5 nights, with the space, privacy, and comfort to truly settle in—whether you’re gathering with family, working remotely, or simply slowing down together.
A Year-Round Retreat
Winter brings quiet beauty and cozy comfort—perfect for fireside evenings, shared meals, and peaceful days surrounded by snow-dusted mountains. The home’s warmth, light, and stillness make it ideal for longer winter stays and unhurried time together.
Early spring offers gentle reawakening: birdsong, longer days, and a sense of spacious calm before summer arrives. It’s a wonderful season for reflection, remote work, and relaxed family time.
Summer invites a slower outdoor rhythm—morning coffee with mountain views, afternoons wandering the land, hammock rests on the screened porch, and evenings gathered by the fire bowl under the stars. The invigorating open-sky outdoor shower (open end of May through September) adds a refreshing element to warm days.
Awaken to birdsong and forest air. Enjoy the easy flow between indoors and out, with a chef’s kitchen designed for shared meals, long conversations, and relaxed cooking together.

Winter travelers will find the home accessible, with a 4WD vehicle recommended during snow. In warmer months, guests often remark on how refreshed they feel by the land, the quiet, and the surrounding views.
Please Note
The house is meticulously cleaned and thoughtfully prepared between guests. Our beloved cat is confined to the main floor when we are present; light traces may remain—guests with severe allergies should take this into account. No dogs are allowed.
Florentine is not suited for parties or large gatherings. It is intended for families, small groups, and guests seeking a peaceful, respectful stay.
What to Expect After Booking
Upon confirmation, guests receive: • A detailed house inventory & supply list • A local activity guide for Woodstock & the Catskills • Driving directions • Check-in instructions
For winter stays, our neighbor plows the road once snowfall slows; a 4WD vehicle is recommended—the view is worth it.

Longtime friends who get together annually to stay connected for Super Bowl weekend. Given demands of work and family we try and find a phenomenal place to stay near Woodstock. This property exceeded all expectations! From the thoughtful layout of the property (a huge common area / fantastic kitchen), to proximity to Woodstock (10ish min drive), to the excellent communication and service provided by the property owner (Nicola), our stay could not have been better or gone smoother. This property has it all.
The Sunset Mountain Retreat exceeded our high expectations in every regard. This large, peaceful, and secluded house was replete with thoughtful features and amenities (accurately represented in the listing) that made for a very comfortable and relaxing weekend with old friends. It's a beautiful, airy, and uncluttered modern house offering lovey views in every direction. Check-in/out was a breeze, the house rules sensible and straightforward; and Nicola and Nuno were gracious and accessible hosts. Thank you for everything!

You are so welcome, love having you, you are great guests!
We were a group of 6 friends who get together yearly, and each one of us adored the house. We were looking for a place that had room for us to gather, but also to spread out, and this one over-delivered. The space is truly warm and inviting, and remarkably well appointed. We lacked for nothing, which is a rare thing to say when describing a short term rental. We love to cook together, and the kitchen had every tool we needed. The fireplace was easy to use, the bedrooms were each comfortable, and the bathroom options are abundant. The owners communicated well, and their attention to detail made everything so easy for us. Highly recommend, and I look forward to staying again.
Relaxing and peaceful, while also connected to nature.
Our time at Nicola’s home was marvelous, surpassing our expectations. She was a wonderful host, providing clear and prompt communication in a relaxed manner, while also checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly. The house and property are beautiful. I appreciate the energy efficient design and comfortable layout. Very clean and fully stocked with anything you might need as a guest to feel at home. The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, while the rest of the house is a pleasure to relax in. I found myself standing mesmerized in front of random windows throughout the house, viewing not only the mountains across the valley, but the surrounding forest as well. For those with an affinity toward nature, it’s simply a dream. You are connected to the outside around every corner. Wildlife abounds. Early risers have a good chance of observing the local deer contingent making their way across the property, nibbling on the reachable leaves of the fruit trees. I recommend the screened porch for napping whenever the mood strikes. There was a steady symphony of birds, grasshoppers, and all sorts of other natural musicians to charm us into a much needed restful respite. I can go on and one, but I suggest you discover it for yourself. I look forward to going back and would recommend this special place to anyone.

Thank you Pericle, so glad you enjoyed the house and land. And thank you for describing it with so much detail, so other guests can have a better picture, very grateful.
Best wishes, Nicola
I stayed in this house for a long weekend with friends. It was a great base of operations for attending the NY sheep and wool festival. The whole house was very clean and modern with a well-appointed kitchen and breathtaking views.
We had a wonderful stay at this house in the Catskills. The home has a modern, open layout with all the focus on the views towards the mountains. The pictures do not do the views justice - they really are amazing. I was working remotely while we were there and the internet worked perfectly. The house is close to plenty of activities, including downtown Woodstock and an incredible hike up to Overlook Mountain.
One word of warning if you're visiting in the winter: Zinnia Lane is a private gravel road. The roadway is well-maintained but very steep. There was about one inch of snow the day we arrived and we could not make it up the hill in our minivan. Nicola was extremely helpful and called the neighbor to plow for us right away, so it really was no harm done for us. But a 4-wheel drive would be nice, especially if more snow is on the forecast.
Our family of 4 had a wonderful long weekend getaway and loved every minute. The home is beautiful - tranquil, cozy, inviting - and our host Nicola was so kind and helpful during our stay. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed. Watching the sunset each night after over the mountains from the living room was our favorite part! We can't wait to come back in the summer.
Loved this place last year and we came back again, and loved it just as much. Beautiful, peaceful, with nature front and center but no lack of modern comfort. And those windows…

Dear Sara,
we love having you, every year, thank you so much for honoring the house, land and sanctuary that it is.
Many Blessings, Nicola
We were drawn to this rental by the listing’s photographs of the home. But the reality surpasses that vision. The big row of windows creates a deep connection between the beautiful surrounding land and the inside of the home. I got up early every morning to sit beside the windows and watch the sunlight work its way down the side of the mountains - a perfect meditative start to the day. The home overall is beautiful, modern and comfortable. It’s a place that invites respite from the surrounding world - exactly what my family needed right now.
Our family and friends had a great long weekend here. The property was beautiful and very clean. We enjoyed the beautiful views and the house. Very peaceful and close to hiking and village of Woodstock.

Lovely!
Nicola's home is beautiful, and a perfect location for winter fun in the Catskills. Plenty of space for 7 adults even though we tended to cluster together in the gorgeous kitchen. We enjoyed being able to cook and socialize in the open floor plan and gather around the kitchen island. Everything we could possibly want or need was available. Nicola was a great host. Thank you!

peaceful, spacious and luxurious
What a wonderful home to be snowed in at! We had plenty of room for the 5 adults + kids to never feel cramped. We booked a last minute getaway with friends all traveling from different towns and we could not have picked a better place. This home is in such a peaceful setting with mountain views out the many windows. We are so excited to come back again next year!

Hi there. We used VRBO for our first rental near by more than 10 years ago .... and we loved the area and our experience ever since. Our listing is new, yet we are experienced landlords and thankfully, have had great experiences sharing apartments in NYC over the last decades. We love this house in Mount Tremper, and it is truly a dream house for us. We keep it clean and clutter free, yet it has everything that we ourselves would want in a house we’d live in. We hope you'll reach out and inquire about the space. We are happy to answer any questions that you have. And we really look forward to having our guests come and enjoy our home and the neighborhood! Nicola & Nuno
Why they chose this property
We rented near by for 4 years until this beautiful piece of land become available for sale. We bought it and asked a renown architect of the area to built an energy efficient house with a mixture of modern, comfortable & warm. The house was finishes in 2013 and we love it since. Now it is time to share this unique view and feeling of the house with others. You are welcome to be under the first to feel the embrace of this land and house. It is truly exceptional.
What makes this property unique
The blend of open space, yet comfortable and welcoming, the amazing mountain view with the charming town of Woodstock nearby. The loft size double-hung windows let in abundant sunlight. Watching the sunlight unfold over the mountain range beyond throughout the day is a spectacle in itself. Especially the sunset is a dream and might bring every day a different color of sky for you.
We love that the property is special each of the 4 seasons, and the surrounding area can easily be enjoyed year-round as well. The drama of the external view and the interior of the main living space with the unique reclaimed wooden beams and staircase as well as the huge windows letting nature in bring something extraordinary to the home.
