Real Ski in - Ski Out High on the Mountain Great Views
A truly unique location on Mammoth Mountain ! Timber Ridge is the highest location in Mammoth, looking down over Canyon Lodge and the Owens Valley. Ski in and ski out (down) to Chair 8 and Canyon Lodge or to Chair 15 & 24 at Eagle Express where lift tickets are sold and miss the lines at Canyon Lodge. (In the summer these same runs become a world class mountain bike trail). The condo has gorgeous views of the Sherwin Range from the living room and master bedroom. The clubhouse directly across from the condo features 'his and hers' saunas, a large spa and a summertime swimming pool. This small complex is surrounded by the national forest, creating a woodsy, remote atmosphere. Nightlife is down the hill (approximately 2 miles) where there are many excellent restaurants and bars.
Remodeled 'down to the studs' two years ago, the kitchen and bathrooms feature custom cabinetry and stone accents as well as heated travertine floors throughout (except for bedrooms where there is new carpet). Sitting in the living room in front of a roaring fire, the view is of surrounding forest and the Owens Valley below. The kitchen with it's custom cabinetry, new appliances and extensive cookware make it easy to stay in and enjoy a meal at home. The master bedroom invites escape with a flat screen tv, gorgeous view of the Owens Valley from the 4 poster bed and a 3/4 bath featuring a heated floor, custom stone accents and a frameless shower enclosure.
The second bedroom has heated, carpeted floors, mirrored wardrobes and a comfortable extra large chair and ottoman. The double twin trundle bed can be attached to become a king bed. Two large windows make the room light and airy.
The garage is attached with stairway access so there is never a need to unearth your car after a snowstorm. The association owns a snowplow/loader which plows our driveways immediately in the event of a storm.
After a day on the mountain, ski home thru the woods (there are trail markers on Bluejay and Chickadee pointing the way to Timber Ridge). Come home to hot drinks, a crackling fire and beautiful sunset views. Go for a soak and a sauna at the clubhouse across the driveway. Make dinner at home or go to one of the terrific restauants just down the hill.
Area activities include superb cross country skiing (just down Lake Mary Road at the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center), snowmobiling, dog sledding, sledding and back country snowshoeing. Hot springs soaking is popular year around. Summer fun includes golfing, hiking, fishing, backpacking, mountain biking and horseback riding. We are located directly on the world class mountain bike trail that the winter ski runs become in the summer. There are several outlet shops in town including Ralph Lauren and Bass for the less motivated.
As a result of the mountain being developed the last few years, there are more great restaurants and nightlife all over town and on the mountain. Most of the lifts are high speed and enclosed. There is gondola service to the top and to a mid-mountain lodge where skiers and non-skiers can enjoy excellent food at a beautiful restaurant as well as great service at the less formal cafe.
Our favorites restaurants are Nevados and Tamarack Lodge (I never get tired of walking through the enclosed entry lined to the rafters on either side by firewood.) Tamarack is authentic old style lodge with a huge fireplace, lots of deep sofas and hot drinks. They serve French food and have a good wine list. Nevados is very good California cuisine and equally good drinks. A fun, less expensive restaurant we eat at is Angel's, just down the road. The Stove on Old Mammoth Road is an institution that serves huge breakfasts. Our favorite after ski is the Yodler across from Main Lodge. No amount of will power has kept us from Schaat's Bakery, a mecca of wonderful bread, gorgeous pastries, mountain size sandwiches and soups. There is a Schaat's in Bishop and another on the main road to the condo.

Condo was comfortable and well equipped. Ski in ski out was as advertised- just a short easy walk up the driveway. The host was very kind and helpful. Would stay here again!
Great location and as advertised. The garage is tiny and short, so a car with a cargo box on top does not fit. There is parking down the street so that was not an issue. Super easy jacuzzi access was also very nice

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review
Diane our host was very nice and responsive.I recommend this property for the ski in ski out ease.No parking to deal with jut walk a few steps and clip in.Everything was as advertised.
Very clean, beautiful views. Nice to have a balcony and a back patio (although back patio currently full of snow). Nice kitchen but only room for one person at a time. Comfy master bed. Couldn't utilize ski in/out due to current snow conditions, but very short drive to Canyon Lodge so not an issue! Garage is not wide - a full size Tahoe or Suburban likely wouldn't fit. Overall pleased!
You can absolutely not beat this location. Condo was perfect for my family of four. Clubhouse was amazing with super large hot tub and sauna. Nothing beats staying on the mountain!!
Communication was great, location was great. condo was clean and comfortable. Only downside was not being able to take advantage of the attached garage - our truck would not fit. Otherwise highly recommended.
Did not utilize the 'clubhouse' as it was across the street and there was a lot of snow. Kitchen was stocked. Only issue was the freezer was not accessible (couldn't open the door bc the stove restricted it)
We've stayed at many places in mammoth and this was by far our favorite. Perched high on the hill with a great view, ski-in and ski-out, clean, updated, comfortable, spacious, well stocked, hot tub in clubhouse close by. Would definitely stay again!

Bed in master was really uncomfortable for my wife and I, and why so high off the ground? Single garage is really tight for an SUV (4Runner). Also needed to take roof rack off to fit. Very limited outside parking. Could not get heat to work in living room. Used space heaters that were fine.
This is a fantastic spot for a ski in ski out condo. We really enjoyed the flexibility of being able to come back between runs whenever we needed to. 5/5 Stars!
Great spot for a small family. Very convenient for the mountain.

About the host

My family is crazy about any sport that delivers maximum thrills. We scuba, kayak, kite surf, wind surf, sail and of course, snowboard and ski. We live in Southern California near the beach. There are three of us and lots of relatives, especially in ski season.
Why they chose this property
We found and bought our condo by accident. An old friend told us she was no longer able to endure the altitude and wanted to sell after thirty years (she was an original owner). We went to Mammoth and found that her condo was ON the ski runs and had a gorgeous view. At that time, Timber Ridge was relatively unknown to all but the locals. We were thrilled with the feeling of remoteness and being surrounded by the forest. My guys love skiing home for lunch and I like staying home drinking morning coffee looking at the great view. I love cross country skiing at Tamarack Ski Center which is right down Lake Mary Road
What makes this property unique
Real ski in ski out DOWN to two different lifts A great view A totally remodeled unit. New kitchen, new bathrooms, heated floors Surrounded by forest on three sides
