Riverside cottage in a beautiful garden in Lincolnshire.
Our beautiful riverside cottage is just north of the hamlet of Langrick, eight miles from the old market town of Boston. It nestles in carefully tended gardens right next to the peaceful River Witham as it takes its journey from the magnificent city of Lincoln down to Boston. Lovingly prepared for just two guests to share, Witham Cottage is the self-contained annex to a classic Georgian farmhouse occupied by the owners of the cottage.
For supplies, the nearest large supermarket is Tesco in Boston. Grocery deliveries can be arranged with ASDA, Iceland, Morrison's, Ocado, Sainsbury's, Tesco or Waitrose.
You're assured the warmest of welcomes from Kathy and Alan who are on hand to give you advice on the local area. The interior of the self-catering cottage reflects the country style of living and is beautifully equipped for your stay. Pastel décor, solid oak furniture and wooden floors immediately create a welcoming atmosphere. The fitted kitchen is complete with a dishwasher and all the pots and pans, cutlery and crockery needed to create anything from a quick breakfast to a delicious dinner after a day exploring our beautiful county.
The sitting room has a comfortable leather sofa and an armchair to sink into, an electric log burner for a wonderful evening glow and a large flat-screen television. Complimentary unlimited fast WiFi is provided.
The beautifully appointed double bedroom has dual aspect windows overlooking the gardens and is complete with solid wooden furniture, luxurious bedding and a chandelier. Off the bedroom is the sparkling shower room, the perfect place to start and end each day.
Surrounding Witham Cottage is two acres of gardens which guests are welcome to make their own. Enjoy a walk, explore the plant specimens and sit peacefully with a good book. Up on the riverbank it's so quiet with perhaps the occasional cabin cruiser bobbing along now and then. The riverbank is the perfect place to enjoy a coffee first thing in the morning or perhaps a glass of wine in the evening, watching the glorious sunsets turn into a fabulous display of stars in the clear night sky.
Away from Witham Cottage, there’s a wealth of things to see and do. Just eight miles away is the famous Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, at RAF Coningsby, where one of only two remaining airworthy Avro Lancaster bombers is held alongside a Supermarine Spitfire, and a Hawker Hurricane. A little further afield, explore the charming antiques shops in the quiet market town of Horncastle. Woodhall Spa is also nearby, a charming village set in woodland with delightful independent shops, walks, hotels for afternoon tea and a cinema nestled in the woods which steps back in time to the Golden Age of the silver screen. Birdwatchers are amply served by the excellent facilities at RSPB Freiston Shore and RSPB Gibraltar Point whereas National Trust members can enjoy exploring nearby Tattershall Castle, Belton House and Gunby Hall. Further afield is Sandringham, the late Queen’s winter retreat which is set in thousands of acres of woodland open all year round. Access to the house is available when the family is not in residence.

The accommodation and location are 5-star. The hosts, Kathy and Alan, are unique and very helpful. We have stayed at this location several times in recent years and cannot fault anything. It's very much a home-from-home when we travel there—highly recommended.

Amazing cottage with everything you could need for a relaxing break, in an idyllic setting next to the river Witham. Very friendly hosts also who live next door. Will definitely return in the future.

This accomodation was outstanding. It was comfy, cosy and had everything we needed. Set in a lovely garden with the river running by. We like nature and were delighted with all the birds and the occasional deer too. Alan and Kathy were lovely and made sure we were happy with everything. Beautiful tranquil cottage
A beautiful cottage maintained and cleaned to an exceptional standard. An absolutely tranquil, peaceful location alongside the River Witham in an exquisite garden setting.
The owners can not do enough for you, but only if required, you are given ultimate privacy.
A fantastic place to relax for days on end or as a base for all Lincolnshire has to offer.

Thank you for your kind review of your stay at Witham Cottage. We hope you will visit again and perhaps tell others about our peaceful little corner of the world.
Lovely small property for 2 people. An oasis in the midst of the Lincolnshire countryside which, it has to be said, is quite featureless. (To be fair, we went late October. On a summer's day it would be much nicer.) Could well revisit to see more of the area. Plenty of places of interest within a half-hour's drive.
Witham Cottage is a lovely small cottage with small windows and a super stable door. It is immaculate and very comfy. It is surrounded by the most well kept country gardens I have ever seen. There are several sitting out areas with tables and chairs complete with large bronze deer and all illuminated at night. Kathy and Alan the owners are lovely. This is the best cottage and garden we have ever stayed in. Thank you

Thank you for your very kind review. It was a pleasure to host you and we'd love to see you again.
Perfect place to relax, location was beautiful. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. Kathy and Al were really friendly and welcoming, they gave me some of their apples and I made the best apple crumbles I've ever had. Ernie the dog was a bonus, loved every minute and look forward to going back again.
Excellent accomodation in a beautiful setting which is well maintained by the owner who is very welcoming and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
This was such a great find. Beautiful location, very kind & considerate hosts and such an amazing cottage. We can’t recommend it highly enough. We had planned to do quite a lot on the days of our stay but now wish we hadn’t and just stayed at the cottage relaxing in their beautiful grounds & sit by the river. Pure Bliss!
The location was perfect for us. The hosts were so friendly and made us feel at ease straight away. We had everything we needed in the cottage. The garden and the grounds were lovely, well laid out and kept immaculate. We felt secure as the property was well away from the main roads. The view of the river was reached by a few short steps up the riverbank. At the
riverside was a table and chairs and a two seater covered swing seat. So beautiful and relaxing, ideal for picnicking and drinks or just taking in the view.
This is the second time we have stayed at Witham Cottage and we simply couldn't wait to return!
Everything about it is beautiful, the cottage and the gardens, it is pristene! There is everything you could possibly want in the cottage and it is absolutely spotless!
It is such a relaxing and tranquil place to stay, it is so lovely to step out into wonderful gardens with ample places to sit and enjoy the sights, scents and sounds. There is a swing chair by the river for ultimate relaxation.
The hosts are brilliant, lovely people.
We were so sad to leave and we miss our chats with Al whilst watching Ernie the little dog run around enjoying himself.
Can't wait to return again!
Thanks Kath, Al and little Ernie xx
The cottage was clean, warm and very comfortable. Absolutely perfect for our stay.

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Lee
We bought Copping Syke Farmhouse more than 20 years ago and spent many years renovating the property and developing its gardens which were originally no more than a field. The site has a beautiful riverside location which is now surrounded by trees and is a truly peaceful part of the World.
